I have sent the following two letters, one to my senators, and the other to the President regrding illegal immigration and the critical need to face up to it directly, stop the politics, and address the issue from a standpoint of American national security. I urge everyone to letters of their own:
TO MY SENATORS:
Senators Mike Crapo and Larry CraigAND TO THE PRESIDENT:
Washington, DC
RE: Immigration legislation
Dear Senators Crapo and Craig,
I'm writing to ask you to oppose any immigration bill that includes any form of guest worker, or any other amnesty-like provision that rewards those who have broken our laws in getting into this country. Also, in the strongest terms possible, I urge you to allow a vote on the Sensenbrenner immigration bill that has already passed the House of Representatives.
Until the federal government is willing to strongly enforce the immigration laws that are already on the books, Americans will be highly skeptical of any additional promises to enforce a new and deeply flawed approach. If recent history is an accurate guide, this so-called guest worker notion would only encourage a new wave of illegal aliens and make America 's uncontrolled and unacceptable immigration debacle even worse than it is now.
Such legislation is a bad idea not only because it creates a transparent path to amnesty, but also because it would reduce work opportunities, depress wages, and lower worker protection for Americans. Further, it would be impossible to administer and even more unlikely to be enforced.
In my estimation, on of the most important job you have to do right now is to SECURE OUR BORDER against illegal immigration. Like millions of Americans, I'm sick and tired of the "inside the beltway" politics on this issue; I will listen to no more excuses or sophistry regarding this issue. Senator, we need you and your collegues to pass true border security legislation, such as the Sensenbrenner bill already passed by the House.
Please, oppose any immigration bill that includes any guest worker amnesty-like provisions. I will be watching your vote on this issue very closely and urging everyone I know to do the same. As with abortion, this issue is a show stopper for me. Anyone not addressing this issue directly, and in such a manner as to stop the flood, support our laws, and end this invasion will simply not get my vote.
Thank you for your time and attention.
Sincerely,
Jeff Head

RE: Immigration legislation
Dear President Bush,
I'm writing to let you know that I have asked both of my senators here in Idaho, (Senator's Craig and Capo) to oppose any immigration bill that includes any form of guest worker, or any other amnesty-like provision that rewards those who have broken our laws in getting into this country. Also, in the strongest terms possible, I have urged them to allow a vote on the Sensenbrenner immigration bill that has already passed the House of Representatives.
In my estimation, and with all due respect Mr. President, one of the most important job you have to do right now is to SECURE OUR BORDER against illegal immigration. Like millions of Americans, I'm sick and tired of the "inside the beltway" politics on this issue; I will listen to no more excuses or sophistry regarding it. Mr. President, we need you to push for and help pass true border security legislation, such as the Sensenbrenner bill already passed by the House.
Please, push forward legislation that does not include any amnesty-like provisions, such as the Sensenbrenner bill. I will be watching my senators vote on this issue very closely and urging everyone I know to do the same. As with abortion, this issue is a show stopper for me. Anyone not addressing this issue directly, and in such a manner as to stop the flood, support our laws, and end this invasion will simply not get my support or vote any longer.
Thank you for your time and attention, Mr. President, and God bless and keep you...and guide you...as you deal with the critical issues facing our nation along with the war we are engaged in. In my estimation, this issue and the latter are directly linked and part and parcel of the same..
Sincerely,
Jeff Head

They should first go home and then come in through the program we establishj once the controls are in place. Otherwise, we will be burdening an already broken system with more influx and more paperwork.
In my estimation, we already have laws on the books that can be used to initiate this in the interim while the other two key elements are put in place (control the borders, find and send home the illegals already here).
I know that is a tall order...but that is the mountain we face and we'd best be about climbing it. I personally believe the Sensenbrenner Bill is the best option to start.
But that is what they have to be willing to do. Short of that, they should not be living and working here as residents/citizens.
Come here on vacation if you want and can afford it...but then go home to your own culture and lifestyle. When you decide you want to be an American, with all that comes with it...then apply for citizenship through the legal means.
ROTFLOL! Exactly...doing the jobs Americans will not do...like being loyal American representatives?
Great! Encourage everyone you know to do the same. Now iis the hour!
Well said.
You are welcome. See my post 102 as regards your conversations later in the thread.
Outstanding. Encourage everyone you know to do the same.
Hundreds of thousands of foreign nationals waving foreign flags, and many of them calling for, in essence, annexation of parts of our nation should wake every loyal American up to the depth and breadth of the problem.
Thanks for the ping...the more the merrier!
Amen...see my posts 102 and 109.
Agreed. Now is the time for us all to speak to them directly...with one voice...either do this job NOW, or get the boot. They need to fear for their political hides.
Oops...thats posts 102 and 108. My bad.
BUMP.
Great letters. You made me get off my butt and write a letter to my two Senators and the President as well. A first for me. I would urge a freapers to do the same the need to hear from us on this. (When I went on the internet to get the zip code for The White House they gave you the option to get the information in Spanish)
The abject displays in LA and elsewhere of the hundreds of thousands of illegals flaunting our laws, discounting and criticizing our Republic, and calling, in essence, for annexation or ceding of our soveriegn territory, was the last straw for me. I pray it is for many Americans.
They better get ready to damn well find out that we American citizens will have our say on our own soil. It's time this absurdity, nonsense and invasion were halted in their tracks.
I am just as offended as you, but these WDC elected officials are counting on US to take this like "good" civilized citizens. The only thing that gets their attention is money and if there is a hit to their tax collection they just might get a clue.
They may get the surprise of their life. They need to get the absolute BOOT if they feel this way.
Thanks for the heads up Jeff. A reasoned, yet passionate response is something I'm no longer capable of, considering California is getting overrun today, and yesterday, and the day before that. Maybe somebody inside the beltway will pay attention to you. Maybe.
