Erma Byrd passed away early this morning. I had met her once during the 2000 election, and even then, she was a small, frail woman. She was quite pleasant, however. May God bless her and be with the senator in this sad time. No matter what we think of the guy, they were together for decades, and I am sure he loved her very much.

I'm sorry to hear of her passing. Whenever I hear about someone on the other side suffering a death in the family I get a little angry myself knowing how much they celebrate any misfortune Republicans have.
Odds are 2-1 that DU is already cursing us and how much "disrespect" we are showing. They always fall back on that claim.

Senator Byrd sometimes really gets my goat but every now and then he votes the right way. In other words he isn't completely liberal.

Married 69 years, I can't imagine the pain and loss he must be experiencing.

I remember how hard it affected Lester Maddox when he lost his wife, Virginia. My condolences and prayers go out for Senator Byrd.

I'm guessing that, more than anything else, this will probably end the orator of the Senate's career--it will likely sap some of his energy for living.
I'm sorry to hear of his loss.

A loss is a loss, no matter who. God welcome this woman into his loving arms and comfort her family.
