OKLAHOMA CITY - University founder and evangelist Oral Roberts fell and broke his hip, Oral Roberts University officials said Friday.
Roberts, 88, broke his right hip Thursday night while on the way to the kitchen at his home near Palm Springs, Calif., according to a statement released by the university.
Roberts was taken in an ambulance to a hospital, where he was expected to undergo surgery.
His son, Richard Roberts, was informed by a physician that the hip injury was a clean break and a full recovery is expected, the release said.
Roberts is widely known for his evangelistic crusades that have been hosted in six continents, and for founding Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, where more than 5,000 students are enrolled
God told him to.
Send money or he'll break the other one.
Calling Benny Hinn's bad breath?
And God will break his other hip unless he recieves $6 Billion in donations by April 1st...
He can't heal it???
When someone spends his life taking the name of the Lord in vain, there's gonna be hell to pay..
I'm a hard right cultural Christian who is not terribly pious
I do like TV folks like Billy Graham and his family and some other conservative preachers
but Oral, Hinn, and some...ahem....motivational or gimme money types don't set well with me.
some of them are blatantly transparent charlatans and they will answer.
Usually it's a rapid downhill slide after a broken hip at his age. Hope that that isn't the case, he always seemed like a nice guy.
Hadn't seen Oral on TV in years. I thought he had cleaned up his act. Guess not. Of course I think some, not all, of the TV preachers these days put Roberts and the TV preachers of the 80s to shame when it comes to asking for money
I saw one the other nite....hustling old black folks
guy had been burned (?)
And to think only a few weeks ago, he only lost to Memphis by 16 points in the first round of the NCAA basketball tournament. :)
"`I felt an overwhelming holy presence all around me. When I opened my eyes, there He stood ... some 900 feet tall, looking at me ... He stood a full 300 feet taller than the 600-foot-tall City of Faith. There I was face to face with Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God. I have only seen Jesus once before, but here I was face to face with the King of kings. He reached down, put his Hands under the City of Faith, lifted it, and said to me, "See how easy it is for Me to lift it!"'"
"Oral recalled that his eyes filled with tears, and Jesus assured him that He would speak to the ministry's part ners and that the City of Faith would be finished." (p. 415)
Agreed.
Is it my imagination or is this thread bringing out the stealth liberals, Christian-haters & Darwinists?
And hence the inspiration for the rapper, MC 900 Foot Jesus.
Now that is funny !!!!!
Oral Roberts is a false prophet.
Agreed. TV preachers swindling the life savings of demented old cat ladies make me sick.

It was years ahead of everybody else as far as computers and video technology went. circa 78
I didn't like the rules...but I promise you.. the education was excellent.
In fact I wish I had been a better student at the time.
He was startled when he read of his son, Richard, and his wife spending university money like drunken sailors on personal affairs and political cronies.
When old people are reported to have fallen and broken a hip, a true examination of the facts could likely reveal that, while walking, a hip broke and the resultant loss of support and stability led to a fall.
Just watch an old dog with bad hips and you can see how much of a problem they have with falling when their hips give way.
With dogs, they don’t seem to suffer so much from osteoporsis as from dysplasia so they tend to have less damage to the bone structure from repeated incidents but over time, get to the point where the effort becomes discouragingly overwhelming.
Back to the old guy - an impact break from the force of the fall onto a hard surface would be expected to leave a bit of telltale shattering at the point of contact, we never get these reports if they are ever made.
When dealing with celebrities, the press is generally careful not to leave embarrasing images for those whose time may be short and we see canned phrases such as, “fell and broke his hip.”
It’s okay to pee in pneumonia...
