Good versus evil isn't a strategy
LA Times ^ | March 24, 2006 | Madeleine Albright

Posted on 03/24/2006 7:51:04 AM PST by edpc

THE BUSH administration's newly unveiled National Security Strategy might well be subtitled "The Irony of Iran." Three years after the invasion of Iraq and the invention of the phrase "axis of evil," the administration now highlights the threat posed by Iran — whose radical government has been vastly strengthened by the invasion of Iraq. This is more tragedy than strategy, and it reflects the Manichean approach this administration has taken to the world.

It is sometimes convenient, for purposes of rhetorical effect, for national leaders to talk of a globe neatly divided into good and bad. It is quite another, however, to base the policies of the world's most powerful nation upon that fiction. The administration's penchant for painting its perceived adversaries with the same sweeping brush has led to a series of unintended consequences.

This woman is so out of touch with reality. Is it any wonder she was mistaken for a cleaning lady when she arrived for talks about Kosovo?

Good versus evil is a better strategy than the Democrat's alternative: evil for evil.

Two quotes:

Winston Churchill: "You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is victory. Victory at all costs. Victory in spite of all terrors. Victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival."

Ronald Reagan: "I know you think I don't have a strategy for dealing with communism, but I do: We win. They lose."

These are the sorts of strategy that work.

Although this is not an administration known for taking advice, I offer three suggestions. The first is to understand that although we all want to "end tyranny in this world," that is a fantasy unless we begin to solve hard problems.

Like ending tyranny???

Albright once again affirms how she managed to be one of the worst Secretarys of State in U.S. history.

Only a intellect (for lack of a better term) stunted by decades of cowardice and moral relativism could have authored such a pathetic screed.

It's time the Dems dig up their old roots and name, instead of the Know Nothing Party, they should now be called the Do Nothing Party..

She shows again that her looks exceed her grasp of reality and politics. Is she Neville Chamberlain reincarnated?

Yes, Maddy, real meaning is only found within the shades of gray that allows twits like you to endure in your search for relevance. Meanwhile, the rest of the world goes on and those who would wish and do evil upon us have stated it plainly to any that have ears and the brain power to understand.

Back to the depths of anonymity -- may we never be graced with your kind in a position of power again.

Uh, Maddy, I need my room cleaned...

From a Feb 2000 posting on FR. It still makes me laugh, even after 6 years........

Secretary of State Madeleine Albright was mistaken for a maid during last year’s peace negotiations for Kosovo in Rambouillet, France. According to a report in the "New York Daily News," the Secretary of State at first wasn’t recognized by the Albanian delegation when she walked into their room.

“One member of the delegation, who didn’t realize who she was, and probably thinking she was some cleaning lady because it was after midnight, simply said to her, ‘Give us five minutes and please go away,’” recalled Albanian diplomat Dugagjin Gorani in War on Europe, a British TV program. Instead, Albright exploded in rage, swearing at the group, according to the reports.

“Mrs. Albright started using explicit language which the translators never could translate into Albanian,” says Veton Surroi, another member of the delegation.

It is quite another, however, to base the policies of the world's most powerful nation upon that fiction.

Which, of course, this Administration does not despite the calls from some that the policy be "purist." This woman is just another reminder why this bunch must now be allowed back in power to run our international relations.
