Former Iraqi Air Force Gen. Georges Sada claims that Newsweek's translation of some of Saddam Hussein's tapes is wrong. Newsweek reported that the Saddam tapes include statements that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
Speaking on Fox News Channel, General Sada said that the tapes were not translated correctly and his translation is that Saddam Hussein did have WMD. Why would Newsweek publish an erroneous story? Sada believes they used unqualified translators who confused Arab dialects. Others believe Newsweek may have a vested interest in perpetuating the story that Iraq had no WMD.
General Sada also says that chemical or biological weapons were flown to Syria in 56 flights, but was unable to confirm it.
General Sada's allegations are confirmed by others. A Pentagon official, John A. Shaw, who was responsible for keeping track of Iraqs weapons programs, claims that special Russian troops in civilian clothes supervised the transfer of Saddams WMDs into Syria. An Israeli general, Moshe Yaalon, has made a similar claim. The general in charge of Pentagon spy satellites has admitted observing large truck convoys from Iraq to Syria before the war began.
Yet most of the 2 million documents have not been explored or even translated. Its almost as if the CIA and the Pentagon dont want to know what they contain.
According to the Boston Herald, the CIAs clandestine war against the White House means the agency cannot be trusted for an honest account of whats in this material.
Many believe that Congress should make sure that an independent body, with no ax to grind, checks the documents and releases every last one that can be made public safely.
DING-DING-DING!
The WINNAH!
So, how much publicity is this story going to get?
Fox might mention something.
Another Dan Rather moment?

Kind of makes a person go hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Well this is a shock...
Wasn't that long ago they were confirming the flushing of a toilet at Guantanamo.
Wasn't that long ago they were confirming the flushing of a koran in the toilet at Guantanamo.
Everybody remember who was the one who wanted the cia hiring to be people of liberal quality. Yes, this always goes back to ol Clintie and his screwball commie wife. They are the ones who revamped the cia. Clinton made another mess. We now have a cia that can't catch a cat in a garbage can looking for old fish , and if someone else does, claim the cat was abused. Every thing goes back to the mess Clinton and his pro communist friends like kerry have done in the past . But of course, blame it on Bush and don't believe one of the guys who are sitting right next to Saddam , after all only Clinton and his liberals are right.
I find it difficult to believe that some young energetic newman isn't digging into this thoroughly. The one that would come up with an honest, valid interpretation of what was what surely would make a name for himslf the envy of the profession.
The vast majority of government documents are totally meaningless, retained only because it's easier to store everything than to make a decision on what to discard. That applies as much to the former Iraqi government as it does to our own.
When we got these documents, we took everything we could find, even the purchase orders for pens and paper. To say these documents have not been "explored" is probably a misstatement. More likely, a screening process has taken place so that the translation effort concentrates on documents that are more likely to have important contents.
Maybe they hired fired people from the NY Slimes at Newsweek.
Maybe someone should test the toll free/800 number at Newsweek to see if they know how to answer the phone...
Sorry, but if Sadam showed which rock the WMD are hidden under, the MSM would procame " Sadam Lies!!!"
One thing the media always wants to be is "hip" and "cutting-edge" and I get the feeling they're sloooooowly beginning to realize that, by parroting the moonbattery of old hippies (which is the vast majority of the liberal anti-war fanatics), they are more and more being perceived as about as cutting-edge as Bob Schieffer. They're about the last bunch to realize it is the liberals they've put their stock in who have become the strident, constipated "Establishment."
