Now hear this:
Thanks to John McCain, Free Republic will shut down tomorrow at high noon for 30 days. No non government approved electioneering messages may be transmitted over the internet for the 30 days immediately preceding a primary election.
That is all.
The above exercise was just a drill. But if John McCain has his way with his proposed rules for regulating political free speech on the internet, this is how we will be forced to operate in the coming election cycle and all election cycles in the future until we can get the unconstitutional McCain-Feingold act repealed.

I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!
If the thought of losing your right to express yourself online makes you mad, it is high time you let Senator John McCain know how you feel.

Start by contacting your reps and senators.
I can contact all but one of my reps and senators. Somehow I don't think McPain is going to budge when he can keep his name in the limelight.

Weep? No hysterics! I'd sound like the shrieking Whiny Witches of the West: Pelosi, Boxer, Woolsey and Feinstein!
Seriously, would the politicians really want to cut off the Internet money train they now hope to exploit for campaign cash?

This is not actually a "Connecticut" ping. I'm not really sure what this is all about, but seeing as FR may be down for an extended time soon, I thought members of my Connecticut list should be aware of it...
Please Freepmail me if you want on or off my infrequent Connecticut ping list.

I'm not going anywhere and not doing anything special. No offshore servers or napster style software for FR. When the time comes, we keep on posting. Harder and louder than ever. This battle has to go to the Supreme Court. I don't even want the blogger exemption to pass. The unconstitutional McCain-Feingold must be struck down in its entirety!! It's all or nothing. I respect your decision about no offshore servers etc. Though I wish there were some options we could choose that you'd feel good about--as wisdom in troubled times.
I entirely agree about the whole thing needing struck down. A worthy challenge for all of us. I hope we can win it. We must do our best along all routes and avenues. We are wise, also, to avoid underestimating our idiot foes. I think we really must be resolute, relentless and fierce in our fighting for this.

A
Federal judge ruled against a decision by the
Federal Election Commission.
How does McCain's treason apply to FR when we are nowhere near a national election?
Does this law apply to state elections?

Concerning this post, did you ever read
Transcript of ABC's "This Week" for February 4, 2007? It was written 7 years ago, and I guessed spectacularly wrong on a lot of things, but the "story" begins with the first moves of the Hillary Rodham Clinton administration against precisely those people -- which leads to two states seceding.
