Now hear this:
Thanks to John McCain, Free Republic will shut down tomorrow at high noon for 30 days. No non government approved electioneering messages may be transmitted over the internet for the 30 days immediately preceding a primary election.
That is all.
The above exercise was just a drill. But if John McCain has his way with his proposed rules for regulating political free speech on the internet, this is how we will be forced to operate in the coming election cycle and all election cycles in the future until we can get the unconstitutional McCain-Feingold act repealed.

I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!
If the thought of losing your right to express yourself online makes you mad, it is high time you let Senator John McCain know how you feel.

Not a joke. If McCain has his way, this is what'll happen. Everytime there's a primary or general election, we'd have to shut down for 30 or 60 days.

I'd never post private info in public or ask for it - but it was fun. :-)

I don't know if you are joking or not, but you may be absolutely right. Nope, not joking at all. Civil disobedience is the way to go.

In this battle to silence sites like FR, it's all or nothing. Secondary site...pfft.I heartily second that. Even if the law takes its full force, I'm not shutting up. Our lawmakers may have to be shamed by the sight of people being arrested for speaking their minds, or simply overwhelmed by the number of people who refuse to shut up, but I'm not going to let some idiotic time restriction decide when and where I make my opinions known.

There is plenty to go around. But why the f*** did he sign this monstrosity? What was he really thinking when he signed it?

"Your probably joking but he signed the bill." No I wasn't joking. This really is his fault. People can bash McCain, and rightly so, but Bush gets 100% of the responsibility for this. He turned his back on the Constitution for perceived public opinion thinking the courts would do the hard work for him.

This is not actually a FoxFan ping. I'm not really sure what this is all about, but seeing as FR may be down for an extended time soon, I thought members of my FoxFan list should be aware of it...
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my FoxFan list. *Warning: This can be a high-volume ping list at times.
