>>Christian Aid Workers Freed In Iraq

(Baghdad) -- Three Christian aid workers kidnapped in Iraq have been freed following what's being described as "a planned operation mounted by the Multinational Forces in Iraq." The British Embassy has confirmed that Briton Norman Kember and two Canadian nationals -- Harmeet Sooden and Jim Loney are being evaluated by doctors and are currently in the care of consular staff. The three men were taken hostage along with a fourth member of the Christian Peacemaker Teams in late November. The body of Tom Fox, a native of Virginia, was recovered earlier this month in Baghdad.

I read this article this morning on Drudge and was compelled to write the CPT's U.S. branch the following letter:

Dear Sirs:

As a follower of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, it is with great sorrow that I must write to you and briefly express my anger with your groups conduct in Iraq. I live near Fort Drum, NY and quite a few of my brothers and sisters from our Nazarene Church are currently serving in Iraq. These are wonderful caring men and women who are on a mission to free the oppressed and press back what I consider as being the scourge of humanity. You people have not thanked the men and women who risked their lives to save your members. I think that is outrageous! Yes, you got “in the way” alright. One of your members was shot in the head and dumped in the street. He got off easy compared to those who had their throats cut and heads lopped off. How about the thousands of Iraqis that were brutally tortured and killed by Sadam’s regime. I would much rather take the chance of being humiliated in a US run prison by a few renegade soldiers, then fall into the hands of the old regime or the new terrorist Islamofascists. How many of the Iraqi men who are incarcerated do you think are completely innocent? How many do you think were taking pot shots at civilians and soldiers or planting explosive devices? Now on the other hand, what about all the civilians who have been captured and killed by the terrorists? What were they doing? Were they trying to help the terrorists and undermine our military’s efforts like your cadre? ….and what is the thanks they get from these followers of Satan?...they get taken hostage and often brutally killed.

Are you people so clueless and spiritually unaware of who we are really fighting? Or are you still naively thinking Islam is the “religion of peace.” I suggest you acquaint yourselves with the Satanic verses, aka the Koran. An easy resource on line is www.prophetofdoom.net. A little homework would be a very good thing if your members are going to walk into Satan’s stronghold and forget who your friends are. A little study of the true history of the Crusades would be in order as well. Yes there were a few renegade knights who did some bad things, but most were righteous men who gave their lives and fortune to beat back Satan’s hordes who were gobbling up countries at an alarming rate and forcing people to renounce Christ on the threat of death. Thank the Lord that there were those who were willing to fight, or we would all be forced to kneel on our “prayer” rugs and worship the Prince of Darkness.

Sincerely,

Stuart

I hope you get an answer to that and if so I would love to see it.

Has there been any background information on the CPT? Such as who funds them, what are their professions, if any, etc.?

I suspect we'll hear how their captors were kind and how the US is evil

You are absolutely right. These fools will spout anti-American propaganda and spit on their liberators' face.

Just the way leftists are.

"They weren't released. They were rescued. CPT LIED. Not very Christian of them."

I didn't hear any details yet on the rescue. It would be nice to have that. In any event, these ungrateful slugs would have ended up like their buddy if we didn't intervene. Maybe we ought to offer to them to help indentify the thousands of corpses thrown in the mass graves by Saddam. That would be helpful. unbelieveable. Reminds me of that story:
Women is on top of house and flood is rising.
Rescuers in canoe come by: Get on!
Woman: No. God will provide. Water gets to top of roof.
Next boat comes by: Get on!
Woman: No. God will provide. Water gets up to her chin.
Next boat comes by: Get on!
Woman: No. God will provide. She drowns and goes to heaven.
Woman: Why did you let me die?
God: What are you talking about? I sent three boats?!

Released"? They were RESCUED! But their press release practically thanks their captors for "releasing" them!

Well, at least MSNBC gave credit where credit is due.

The CPT should remove the C from their name. This snide, cynical statement is counter to the beliefs and attitudes of Christianity. In fact, the true Christians are the soldiers that these fools so cavalierly refer to as occupiers. These brave men and women laid down their lives to rescue those that would persecute them. That is what Christ did and what he asked all of us to do.

"It would be entirely consistent with what they claim to believe to still thank those who saved them, despite disagreeing with the war in Iraq.

Yet, they can't bring themselves to do it."

Just heard they acted quickly on the information from a man captured hours before the rescue.

I wonder if they had search a warrant -- hope these hostages don't sue... /sarcasm

If I'm taken somewhere by force and someone else arrives and I am removed from there to a safe place, I was rescued, whether my captors are there or not.

I wrote them:

It would be appropriate to thank the military personnel involved in the rescue. There is no mention of their efforts in your statement. Perhaps this is merely an oversight, or perhaps it is petulance. That you disagree with their mission in Iraq is no excuse.

To simply say thank you is not to endorse the war in Iraq.

Thank you for your consideration,

(my name), QMC(SW)

Maybe I'll receive a reply.

Doubt it.

Maybe they'll have the common courtesy to thank their rescuers.

Doubt it.

I shouldn't be surprised. Pacifists are moral cowards.

Excellent post; these hostages were RESCUED, not released, through the noble and brave efforts of the very forces they denounce. And CPT waited, what, ten whole minutes before denouncing the US and the multinational forces in yet another political stunt?

Absolutely sickening that these people call themselves Christians.

The Dead/tortured one had a change of heart and realized that the Iraqi resistance should not win, so the terrorists had to kill him/her
