You are absolutely right. This is frightfully scary.

I love it. Instead of going out to stop real crime and catching real criminals, they'll be after smokers. /sarcasm

We can't say we didn't realize the day was coming.

No, someone can complain, or file a private criminal complaint.

After investigation, charges may be filed if the facts warrant.

As someone said, I hate Mass, and darn near everything about it.

Next, they will ban smoking in homes, but strangely enough, the SCOTUS would strike that down due to president created by that ruling on State Sodomy laws.

I know, I know. I grew up in Lawrence and I can't imagine it happening then at the Italian-American Club.

But that was then, this is now ;-(

It is a small jump from "public" private property to private clubs. It is an even smaller jump from private clubs to private homes. I hope the resident FReepers that celebrated smoking bans are happy now. I wonder how it feels to be them, tools of the fascists.....

"What part of the word "private" don't these people understand?"

The same "private" that appears before the words "home" or "residence" or "property"; which will be the next target of the smoking ban for our own good. Of course next will be fatty foods, alcoholic beverages and any other behavior the control freaks find offensive. It's all for "the children" dontcha know.

Me thinks that you underestimate the virtually limitless ability of the liberal mind to perform pretzel logic. I'm sure that a ban on smoking in a private residence is only a penumbra away.

WOW, obviously the word private does not compute with them.

It would have to be a pretty smart word to do that.

Or a pencil signing.

I don't think "private" is in the new state-issued newspeak dictionary.

"Happened awful fast, didn't it?

And it's not just Massachusetts, it's spreading like a cancer everywhere"

It's sreading at the speed of light, or so it seems. I figure the little socialists want to get their paradise in motion,(ruling our lives) so they can enjoy it. They don't want to wait twenty years or so. Expect this to pick-up the pace, and to spread into every facet of our lives. They just won't have it any other way.

We will have to make a real stand, eventually.

The little socialists are masquerading as conserveative Republicans here. The liberals were the ones against the smoking bans in private clubs.

The true conservative is definetly a hard-to-find little creature in today's government. Hell, they're an endangered species. How about all these "conservatives" on F.R. screaming , ready to stomp on anyone who dares to dis-agree, and who doesn't chant the mantra. The lines are getting foggier.....

Right with you pal. Here, if you disagree with some politicians, they are particularly vindictive.
FR does have many good people on it though.

I consider myself a "Mayberry" conservative where being right involves acting "right" if you catch my drift, not that I'm any good example. But heck, if someone disagrees with me, who cares? Sometimes I actually can learn something from someone else. Actually, I learn everything that way since I'm incapable of learning very much any other way:) hehe.

You shall not smoke tobacco on your private property but hey you shall have all the homosexual sex you want. Private gay sex clubs good just don't smoke there. You might harm or offend someone.

Everytime you turn around there's a new law to protect us from ourselves.

We have another new law in Massachusetts called Nicole's Law. CO detectors required in all residences that burn fossil fuels(which is just about everyone). They have to be in by March 31,except for a few special circumstances .

I don't know how I've lived as long as I've lived without all of these laws that allegedly protect us.
