The trees had to be removed because the bird droppings were polluting the water, according to the report.

At least they have clean water now.

The problem began when city workers removed cypress trees on "bird island" at Lake Eola in Orlando.

Actions have consequences. G-d set up a system...don't tinker with it.

And they removed those cypress trees for what reason? Sounds like a mistake, eh?

Federal law prohibits the bird nests in Orlando from being disturbed.

Well what the heck happened to the nests when they cut down the trees? Hello?!

It's time to start shotgunning all the grackles in the world. Absolutely horrible birds.

Kill em all and let mother nature sort em out.

"I was walking the other day and got pooed on walking under these trees," Orlando resident Lisa Valentine said. "Somebody told me it was good luck."

Yeah...the bird.

Which (village) idiots approved THIS stupid move?

"Federal law prohibits the bird nests in Orlando from being disturbed."

Folks, do you see the problem that is going to take another 50 years for America to address? The federal government has a say on whether Orlando can prevent some bird shit! So a city that depends on tourism will have to let its tourists be literally coated with bird crap because -- The federal government requires it. But it will take 50 years (if we're lucky) for anyone to realize the nutty inefficiency we have brought on ourselves.

IF the spirit of the Boston Tea Party were still alive, some sane citizens would damn well "disturb" those birtd nests!

And folks, the TREES the birds lived in were DESTROYED because the government wanted to protect the environment. Those are cuckoo birds we are talking about. Move the damn nests or kill the birds or replant the trees.

At a local church, the members were proud to have a pair of ospreys build a nest in it's microwave tower. (Ospreys seem to love micro. towers)

They became a little less enthusiastic while the osprey were raising chicks and cars were pelted with not just droppings, but chunks of raw fish that fell out of the nest during feedings.

The worst offenders in my book are the starlings. They were imported from Europe and so they gather together each fall to migrate, but they don't have a destination so they just gather in huge flocks looking for a place to make camp. They can paint your car faster than you can clean it off.

Law of unintended consequences strikes again. Better than cutting down the trees would have been to put in some birds of prey.
