Debra Lafave's charges in having sex with a minor have been dropped, and her excuse was bipolar. Was it really bipolar syndrome that coerced the sexual act, or was it a little girl dying for attention?
Debra Lafave is the 25 year old school teacher who had sexual intercourse with a 14 year old boy in her classroom, her house, and even in her car. Debra was eventually apprehended and charged with statutory rape against the delinquency of a minor.
The odd fact is Ms. Lafave blames a psychological disorder known as bipolar syndrome, a disorder that some would call mood swings.
Being a B.A. in psychology, I can honestly say that the connection between bipolar syndrome and Debra Lafaves sexual appetite is facetious.
I personally do not doubt that Debra Lafave has bipolar syndrome, but it is certainly inexcusable when it comes to sexual deviance such as statutory rape. Bipolar syndrome works like this, usually when someone has bipolar syndrome that person has manic depression or in some cases a fission of personality; in other words, one minute the person is happy, and then in an instantaneous fashion the person is sad, lonely, angry, or confused.
Bipolar also works in ways in which a persons aberration takes effects with their actions. For example, Debra Lafave in an interview kept saying that she hated the media, and then within seconds she responded that she was going to college studying journalism. A paradox is usually a sign of bipolar, because the person is contradicting thoughts and the things they say.
However, bipolar syndrome Debra Lafave may have; it does not absolve her actions. My personal opinion on why Debra Lafave had sex with a 14 year old boy is because it was taboo and it enticed her to break that taboo.
Debra and this 14 year old boy have had a history and constantly having sex, which is strange, because that just proves to me that Debra is playing the role of a maverick and breaking the taboo. It proves to me that she was just wanting someone to give her attention. Its apparent that her family wasnt doing it, and its apparent that her ex-husband wasnt doing it; therefore, she decided to get froggy and jump on a 14 year old...literally.
Taboo is clearly the answer to why societies have iconoclasts-people that are against popular beliefs-and therefore do anything and everything to break those beliefs. If a man is married and realizes that the popular belief of being married is to be loyal the obvious taboo would be not to commit adultery; however, that man wonders what is all the hubbub is about, and he goes out and tries it just to see what its like.
There is an old saying, if you want people to stop smoking pot, legalize it.
It seems to me that Debra didnt have sex with a 14 year old because she didnt know what she was doing, or she had bipolar syndrome, but that she had a chance to break a taboo and she went for it.
A case of euphoria is a part of bipolar; however, there are case studies that have bipolar clients in which they are fighting more on anger and suicidal thoughts rather than breaking taboos.
Is Debra Lafave bipolar? You bet she is, because even her ex-husband said that she was taking medication for antidepression; however, if she was taking medication for antidepression then why would she blame bipolar for her actions? Was she not taking her medication that day?
The bottom line is Debra Lafave was probably bored with her recycled life of work and home and decided to "spice" things up by breaking a taboo, and the only problem was she got caught.
Why do I say boredem was the answer? Because being bored can lead to depression, and can lead to irrational behavior. It may sound like bipolar, but it's not.
Think of it this way, if Debra found a hobby like knitting, cooking, writing, none of this may have never happened. Bipolar is a syndrome in which you could have a hobby and still be effected by it.
Bottom line, Debra was bored with life and she wanted to have something in her life that make her exuberant, and having sex with a 14 year old was her new hobby.
I can think of a couple of teachers I wish was bored when I was 14. Flame away.

This person knows nothing about Bipolar disorder. This is not an adequate or even realistic description of the illness. Your best bet would be to pull this thread so the ignorance here will not be passed on.
This piece of writing was done by a self-proclaimed college graduate?
Was he lying, or did he merely attend a not-particularly-demanding school?
Is the writer of this piece 14?
Indeed.
Had a Playboy playmate as a 7th grade science teacher.
Sounds like a booty call to me.
Attention is not what she is after. If she wanted attention, she could get a puppy.
She is still a child molester.
How about this one, I'll do a remote diagnosis and suggest that the article above pretty well describes Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and has nothing whatsoever to do with bi-polar.
Folks whose sex lives are driven by OCD have a real problem ~ and should probably be locked up.
Reminds me of my ex.
Boy oh boy this really needs an edit.
For some reason, Servant, you came to mind.
How impressive can one get?
I know a girl who's bipolar. They used to call them manic-depressive but that went out of style. Anyway, this girl would do anything, I mean that in a sexual way. I had to fend her off more than once myself, since I'm not funny. I mean, sometimes I'm funny in the ha-ha way but that's as far as it goes. So maybe the girl is telling the truth. But if she's that crazy, I think a nut house is in order, because we can't just allow crazy people to go around molesting children. It's not right.
It needs a new author

Also, he stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night...

HUH?
OCD? OCDs would probably make sure you were in a straight line before bonking you and shower repeatedly afterward.
But they sure wouldnt act like the woman in the poorly written article.
I watched her press conference, and...well...she is pretty hot. Thought I would get in and add my two cents worth before the thread went south...oops...too late already there...:)
