Hello, my name is Gee Bee Jr. I'm excited to do a thread for the Canteen! I hope you enjoy. I'd like to share with you how we got our dog. I'd love to hear about your pet(s)!
After years of my Mom trying to convince my Dad, we were finally going to get a dog. One day we went looking for our new dog. My Mom and I went to a shelter. We didn't find a dog. As we were driving home, I had a paper from the shelter that gave other dog shelters with phone numbers. I saw another shelter that we could visit and told my mom. My Mom said, she had enough looking for the day and the last shelter just broke her heart. We wanted to bring all the dogs home. I did talk her into calling.
My Mom called the shelter and they said, two puppies had just arrived an hour ago. We went to go see them. When we got there, Spot or as we call her now, Audie, our dog was there with her brother. We fell in love. My dad didn't want a dog but he loves her so much now. She greets him with excitement every night when he returns home. She is a Dachshund/Terrier mix. Here's a picture of our dog. Look at her eyes, they are so sweet.
I love having Audie to play with, cuddle with and take walks with. She has become a member of our family.
Yelling at me for barking...I'M A DOG, YOU NUMBSKULL!
Taking me for a walk, then not letting me check stuff out. Exactly Whose walk is this anyway?
Any trick that involves balancing food on my nose...Stop it!
Any haircut that involves bows or ribbons. Now you know why we chew Your stuff up when you're not home.
The sleight of hand, fake fetch throw. You fooled a dog! Woooo-Hooooooo! Oh, what a proud moment for the top of the food chain.
Taking me to the vet for "the big snip", then acting surprised when I Freak out every time we go back!
Dog sweaters. Hello??? Haven't you noticed the fur?
Here are a few websites, I have enjoyed visiting.
This is a website, you pick a dog or two, and you get to take care of it, breed it, do tricks and even go into shows. Show Dog
What type of dog are you?? Take the test. Gone to the Dogs
Visit President Bush and First Lady Lauras dogs Barney and Miss Beazley. Fun videos and pictures. Barney & Miss Beasley

You guys are having deaths from the rain...we're having deaths from the fires caused by NO rain. What a strange world we live in.

I am happy to hear that we were able to bring a smile to his face, after a long difficult day.
Make sure you guys tune in on Friday night, when we play tunes for the Troops.
We are happy to have you aboard and to brighten your days.
Yup, that is why I joint FR ,after a year or two of lurking.

That's really bad. There were fires in the Panhandle here in Texas--about 250 miles north of me--that burned nearly 1 million acres and killed at least 11 people, and 10,000 cattle and some horses. I think they're out now, because of rain this past weekend, but there were several towns that were under threat of being burned up. It was bad. I'm just thankful we haven't had fires in this immediate area.

PACOM has a new 4 star admiral who is..to be nice...a pain in the rear :-) He also had me email the link so his troops at work could see it as well.

Oh yeah, I seen that on the news. I love Texas, my hubby proposed marriage to me in the Austin airport in front of God and hundreds of people. As soon as I got off the plane he was waiting for me with roses and on his knee. LOL I was so embarrassed and shocked. All these folks starting applauding. Gotta love Officers :-) Glad to hear the fires are out and many prayers to those who lost loved ones and properties.

Well, the pain in the neck needs to take it easy and smell the roses.;)
That's cool, maybe we can bring some happiness to some of the guys in his unit.
To: Mrs.Nooseman
ROFL, I'll give hubby that message. I think the only way for that to happen is that one word......RETIREMENT! Get this, one day his wife was coming for a first time visit, so he closes the atrium down (main are in PACOM) so she can do a walk through. This privelege is reserved for folks like ambassadors or high ranking government officals.
After that, I think many of his troops lost alot of respect for him!
