I didn't know there were two cases (why was that, anyway?), but I'd bet this dismissal would undermine the other case and be grounds for appeal.

Two separate counties. I don't know if you can easily appeal a conviction based on a plea bargain, 4 months into your sentence. Nothing would surprise me, though.
