North Korea Suggests It Can Strike U.S. First
Associated Press | March 21, 2006

Posted on 03/21/2006 8:20:32 AM PST by HAL9000

North Korea suggested Tuesday it had the ability to launch a pre-emptive attack on the United States, according to the North's official news agency. A Foreign Ministry spokesman said the North had built atomic weapons to counter the U.S. nuclear threat.

"As we declared, our strong revolutionary might put in place all measures to counter possible U.S. pre-emptive strike," the spokesman said, according to the Korean Central News Agency. "Pre-emptive strike is not the monopoly of the United States."

Last week, the communist country warned that it had the right to launch a pre-emptive strike, saying it would strengthen its war footing before joint South Korea-U.S. military exercises scheduled for this weekend.

The spokesman also said it would be a "wise" step for the United States to cooperate on nuclear issues with North Korea in the same way it does with India.

Earlier this month, President Bush signed an accord in India that would open some of its atomic reactors to international inspections in exchange for U.S. nuclear know-how and atomic fuel.

The accord was reached even though New Delhi has not signed the international Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty. North Korea has withdrawn from the treaty.

"The goal of a preemptive strike is destroy the ability of the enemy to respond effectively. Unless they have thousands of warheads and can figure out exactly where all of our Boomers, missile frigates, ICBMs, and ALCMs are located, they better not get too cocky."

and don't forget all the subs that are practically undetectable and have missiles aimed at NK.

"I wonder. There are far too many anti-American politicians high up I the running.

Fortunately, the traitor who ran for President in 2004 lost

Next time we not be so lucky."

I fully understand your pessimism......

That being said, the minute that little knob in North Korea pushes that button, I am pretty confident that the Anti-America scumbags in Washington will disappear. The fist one that pops off about how we somehow "deserved it", will likely find themself being drawn and quartered.....deservedly so.

I do believe that there are more of us (TRUE PATRIOTS) than there of "them". We just don't get the coverage in the MSM.

I think President Bush should send Kim Jong a bag of marshmellows with a message saying "Please except these toasted marshmallows as a token of my appreciation for all you have done"

Kim Jong II will look at the bag and say "Hey, deese marshmelrows not toasted..what wrong here......pause......RUT ROH! George Bush mad, he realry mad!!!

One thing Kim should keep in mind is that after statements like that, the next time they have war games, we might get the wrong impression and it may turn into more than a game.

Right. Their Tiny-dong missile doesn't have the range to hit much, and if they strike Seattle they're only attacking a friendly country anyway.

Kim and Chavez and Ahmadinejad better pray that nobody takes them seriously.

No one can really say what range their new generation missiles are and if they have the capability of carrying an atomic warhead accurately.

Since it's not been tested, the delivery system can't be evaluated.

But who would want to on the receiving end of that test?

Even if they were able to "strike first", one suspects North Korea would not be a healthy place to be immediately following...

Monaco, Sealand, or Togoland could strike first, too.

I have had friends from overseas visit, and they just did not grasp how big this place is. They assumed, when visiting us in New England, that they would get on a bus that evening, and see the Grand Canyon the next morning.
