It's so hard to find good help nowadays....all the good ones don't stick around.

It's no surprise no french troops were injured, they are always hiding behind something. If they were vests with plates, I'm sure they only bother putting in the back ones.....

Out of respect to French soldiers serving in Afghanistan, I'll make no jokes about the French troops surrendering to the body parts.

remote control detonation..these guys are convinced they can escape the explosions and many do not even know a bomb is in the car..too much propaganda about those willing to be sacrificed for allah.. heavy use of narcotics for those who are forced or willing to sacrifice themselves makes for poor coordination.

Premature detonation. They have medication for that.

Two ways to look at it.

One, high explosive sets loose a flame front of 58,000 feet per second. No way that can keep up with retreating Frenchmen!

Two, and let's insult the guys that actually deserve it, only an Islamist could come up with a dumb-ass tactic like suicide bombing. You know, every civilised army in the world collects its lessons learned (and they share them; we had Russian lessons-learned articles going into Afghanistan and were very cognizant of their mistakes). The islamists, on the other hand, never learn more than one lesson, and if the guy gets debriefed at all, it's in Hell.

The Japanese already tried this, and if any of the Taliban could read, they might have learned that Kamikaze operations, unlike every other military operation in 5,000 years of recorded history, never improved. In fact, they became more futile and less effective as the war ground on.

The islamists are finding the same thing. Their suicide bombers are losing effectiveness at anything but suicide. The Afghans have a number of cruel jokes about the kind of village idiots that are recruited to be shaheeds for the Taliban.

d.o.l.

Not like me to argue with you - but the Japanese Kamikaze attacks in the last year of the WWII sank more ships and killed more US Navy personnel than the entire Imperial Japanese Navy combined for the entire war. They were effective in killing - but unsustainable and did not stop the Allies (and probably made the decision for dropping the A bomb a whole lot easier).

I read somewhere that a suicide bomber detonated himself, and the people of his neighborhood used his head as an impromptu soccerball until the authorities took it away.
