Bla bla bla.
Adding more "resources, and making new laws will do nothing.
With one order from the president, the military could practically SEAL OFF the border within months. This is just more BS to try to keep the base from abandoning the Republicans.
I'll believe it when I see it.

Please call them INVADERS and don't compare them to people who are legal aliens!
President Bush has been great on most things except for our border.
He has been great on the war on terrorists.
But on the border he is a gross failure.
He acted fast and correct on the 3,000+ people murdered at the world trade center.
He ignores the many rapes, murders and robberies which might be larger than the murders and money loss at the world trade center.
More Americans are abducted on the border of Mexico than in Iraq!
Start building the fence.
It should be made a felony for Criminals who overstay their visas and Invaders.
I believe we should give amnesty to these poor CRIMINALS or INVADERS.
This should be a 2 week amnesty to get the heck out of our Country.
The ones who ignore this amnesty should be buried in a tent city jail and fined $10,000 or buried elsewhere.
All aiders and abettors of these CRIMINALS or INVADERS should get 1 year in a tent city jail and a $10,000 fine for each CRIMINAL aided.
Those in government should be the first ones charged.

Trust me, it ain't gonna happen. Congress will not produce legislation that will solve the border problem. They will, however, produce legislation giveing legal status to millions more aliens.

Ah yes, spring is in the air and Frist has dreams of becoming President.

That was my immediate reaction also. Obvious political gamesmanship. More talk is not going to help them this time, if the "base" does not see tangible results soon, they are gone. Hell, it's probably too late already.

A law with teeth (maybe an FBI detachment prosecuteing employers) outlawing hiring illegal aliens or renting to them.. will cause most illegals to slink back across the border in due time.. on their own..
It should be "hard out there to be a pimp for illegals"..
currently its not.. this should be a prerequisite to a wall..

Right now, even the most well-intentioned employers lack a quick, efficient, foolproof way to verify the immigration status of the people they hire. Thus, my bill will expand an existing pilot program into a full-fledged electronic employer-verification database to help employers and workers alike. That's the smartest thing in this bill.

"...if the "base" does not see tangible results soon, they are gone. Hell, it's probably too late already."I tried to send an email to Frist expressing my displeasure. The system wouldn't accept it (system timed-out). I read afterward where it indicates such correspondence should be between the writer and senator(s) of their respective states.
Being from Illinois that means Obama and Durbin. Yeah, that'll get me somewhere. Sheesh. A guy can't even communicate with the Senate leader.

With one order from the president, the military could practically SEAL OFF the border within months. The president cannot just send troops to a state unless that state is violating a federal order or is requested by the Governor. The state has the responsibility of its borders and a national guard.

but the plan will probably not work. I say that because we are constantly having to update our currency because of counterfeiting. The same would apply with any electronic system. That systems would be beaten quickly. I prefer existing law be enforced, instead of new untried law which in more cases than not will do nothing to end the problem. This appears to be another feel good measure with more window dresssing while nothing is done about the problem. IMHO

I prefer existing law be enforced The reason existing law is not enforced, is because it's broken and unenforceable.
Now, we can continue on or change. While no system is 100% secure, and electronic system is far more secure then a paper and pencil system.

my only thought would be......
the reason existing law is broken is because existing law is not being enforced....but this is my opinion.

the reason existing law is broken is because existing law is not being enforced.... I wish that were true, but it's not.
Those of us that enforce immigration law, know it's true.

When has existing law been enforced? It is or has been catch and release. That is not enforcement of existing law. But like I said, that is my opinion.
