By the way, if you miss anything, the show is streamed again immediately after the three hours. Please feel free to add thread narrative about what is aired on the show as a group effort is helpful to get more of the content posted and is much appreciated by those reading the thread later. If you’d like on or off the Tony Snow Show ping list, please post a request. All requests happily honored.

"Woof" is used in broadcasting to say "stop," "that's enough" or to mark a specific point in time -- which is what is done in this case. "Tony's show starts in 3 minutes: WOOF!" Means in 3 minutes from-- NOW!

Are you saying that York is wrong and it's not legal?

I said, " ... it's an error in logic, on several levels, to point to In Re: Sealed case and say 'that stands for the proposition that the NSA Terrorist Surveillance Program is Constitutional.'"

First, In re: Sealed Case wasn't on the issue of what constitutes the extent of permissible wiretapping - it never got to a 4th amendment analysis. Second, we don't know what sort of "probable cause" (shorthand for finding a connection to foreign attachment) is present in the NSA Terrorist Surveillance Program. It's not possible to draw a reasoned opinion on constitutionality until a fact pattern is presented. Third, the cases that In re: Sealed Case relies on, primarily Truong and Keith, a) involved judicial oversight and b) resulted in some evidence being tossed for failure to meet 4th amendment requirements.

Nowhere, but you knew that.

Thanks for the insight

My pleasure.

You may wish to check with Mark Levin.

Or even Byron York! They're both capable of reaching and defending their personal opinions without any help or hinderance from me.

Hey Truth,

I'm sorry you lost a friend and my thoughts are w you.
I understand your reluctance to get married too quickly - -I've been there myself before. There were also 1 or 2 guys I probably 'should' have married and didn't. While it's easy to do, especially if we care about someone, we can't blame ourselves for the choices and path others take. You seem like a very caring and compassionate person, so I certainly understand your sadness in your friend's unhappiness.

I also sometimes get a little down on myself for things I 'should' have done, but, I've tried to look at it as right or wrong, I made the best choice for me at the time, with the information I had as well as my feelings and situation in life at the time (job, family, etc.).

I look back now, and, at times wish I were married, but, I also have to look at it, while the grass often seems to be greener on the other side, it could have been a really bad marriage, regardless how hard I tried. And, perhaps, more importantly, I think while I make my own choices, God also has a plan for me, and, these guys and my marriage to one of them, was not in the 'greater plan'. Maybe one of these days the 'plan' will change and the man of my dreams will come along. In the interim, knowing full well that I've made some mistakes along the way, I've tried to learn from those mistakes; and, I try to be happy with what I have and what I've done. I try to think about what I can do, and not what I should have done (not always easy).

Prayers up to you and your friend.

I don't recall the exact saying, but, it's something to the effect of: God answers all our prayers, we just don't always know they're really being answered at the time.

Best,
SC

As the Attorney General has said, the President has the right to do the NSA surveillance under the Constitution, specifically Article 2, Section 2:

Section 2 - Civilian Power over Military, Cabinet, Pardon Power, Appointments

The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to Grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment. [snipped remaining 2 paragraphs]

In fact, there is some argument that the FISA court is UNConstitutional because it limits the war power of the President.

I choose to believe the Attorney General and the Constitution, and not the Court, and certainly not any buffoon in Congress.
