My friend's father took that pic. His name is Ardai. They survived the Nazi but the Russians chased them to NYC.
Wow, he is a very brave man.
I am amazed that he managed to take photos of the Soviet tank divisions, and conceal it from the secret police.

You seem to want to make light of it but the world is full of common men who take dire risks at pivotal points in their history. Ardai was one of them and worthy of respect, not derision.

I know who the Államvédelmi Hatóság were. I read with great dismay about their terror while visiting the museum at 60 Andrássy Road.
Had the ADH known a man was taking pictures of the Soviet military, that person would have been surely arrested.
Hungarian citizens were subject to random search and seizure of personal property at any time by these people.
I was smiling at the fact that he showed great bravery despite potentially horrific consequences.
