FReepers Foil Pinkos AGAIN! at Walter Reed March 10 (heavy graphics alert!)
03/15/06 | PleaDeal

Posted on 03/15/2006 3:21:27 PM PST by PleaDeal

FReep #47: On March 10th, we not only held ALL FOUR CORNERS of the main gate at Walter Reed (for the eighth week in a row), but we drove Code Pink off its new "vigil" perch as well!

The Pinkos, still holding their weekly blood-dance waaaaay down the block, were caught off-guard and flat-footed in a trap brought about by their own overzealous use of the D.C. Police. We are very fortunate that these intellectual light-weights still haven't learned their lesson when it comes to permits. Hey Gael! Next time you call the cops on FReepers, make sure you have "zee papers" to prove your own protest is legal!

We had another great turnout of FReepers and friends from the DC Chapter and beyond who enjoyed the record-setting high temps, some yummy pizza and the company of true American heroes.

CJ, author of the milblog A Soldier's Perspective and new FreeRepublic member chcknhawk, honored us by spending the whole evening on the corners, and also by taking a few excursions down Pinko Way to discuss the meaning of "support the troops" with members of the opposition. His full account of the night can be read here, but I've swiped some quotes to setup the scene. CJ's first interview was with "Large Marge":

The overall theme of the conversation was [the] fact that war isn’t necessary. Fighting isn’t necessary. They think that every problem can be solved with peace. It’s a great idea and I wish it could actually work. But, then I asked the tough question: What about the jihad? I did not see ONE sign that said “No To Jihad”, “Stop The Jihad”, “Bring the Suicide Bombers Home”. Guess what the answer was to that question….”I’ll bring it up to the committee.” I can’t make that up. The idea of calling for the jihadists, the terrorists, to stop fighting us needs to be voted on!! This is the agenda of Code Pink apparently.

Next up was Perry the "Guitar Man". Rather than mindlessly spew talking points or engage in a real exchange of views, Perry retreats into a passive, obsequious attitude when confronted by warriors. He agreed with every point CJ made but ended with some tripe about a war that could have been prevented.

I absolutely agreed. I told them that every [war] COULD indeed be prevented…until we are attacked. The people that could have prevented war CHOSE not to. Al Qaeda attacked us. They could have prevented this entire thing. Saddam paid to have Bush 41 assassinated. He could have prevented war. He killed innumerous civilians in his own country. People we’re still finding the bones of to this day. He invaded Kuwait, a defenseless country. He chose to kick out the weapon’s inspectors and chose a non-peaceful solution. He subsidized the suicide bombing trade in Palestine and Israel, resulting in dead Americans. Yes, war CAN be prevented. But when all options are exhausted, we defend ourselves and those who can’t defend themselves.

Perhaps inspired by CJ, IraqiKurd, BlackRepublican and Spiff ventured down the opposite side of Georgia Ave. and began making their own queries heard above the din of traffic passing between the two groups. Albion Wilde got the scoop and what follows is part of her terrific contribution to this report.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

IraqiKurd and Black Republican: the perfect storm

If there's anything that riles our leftist opponents across the street, it is tangible reminders that the 1960s are really, really over. Feeling -- and acting -- like they did in glory days of anti-war protest in the 60s, they imagine that all of today's young people feel just as they did, long, long ago when they were young. So when FReepers IraqiKurd and Black Republican decided to take them on, it was a stinging slap in their faces.

While the Pinkos had to fight with the State Department to import a few Iraqi leftist womyn agitators to protest the war this week, the DC Chapter has its own pro-troops Iraqi FReeper, the eponymous IraqiKurd. He has faced off against the Pinkos many times, mocking their dismissal of the cause of freedom for his countrymen in Iraq. Now a twenty-something American citizen and a survivor of Saddam's brutal ethnic cleansing of his family and home, he is living proof that their cause is decadent Marxist elitism, not concern for the underdog.

And Black Republican (BR) is one of our youngest FReepers -- still in high school, and subject to frequent jibes from other African-Americans who are more typically aligned with the Democrat agenda. "They just say those things because of my race," he said. "But I am definitely a neocon." On Friday, BR related how he had recently gone to the Senate Office Building to witness the Senate Judiciary Committee's examination of Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito. Wearing his "Alito" button, BR made his way into the press assembly after the hearing, where he encountered Senator Ted Kennedy.

"I grabbed his hand, and said, 'You're going to vote for Alito, aren't you?' He said something like, 'Well, how are you doing, young man?' but he couldn't look me in the face," said BR.

IraqiKurd and Black Republican started out the evening FReeping side-by-side near the MOAB; suddenly, they realized that they were the Pinko's
worst nightmare -- an Iraqi and a young black person who support the troops and the mission
. Although the DC Chapter hadn't been taunting the Pinkos since they moved down the street eight weeks ago, these two young men gleefully recognized a golden opportunity to heap hot coals on the aging hippies' illusions, and headed down the street to confront them head on.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We'll pick up the story with Spiff's account originally posted on last week's thread.

Then I saw the Pinkos down the block with their pitiful demonstration designed to demoralize the troops while pretending to support the troops. I saw Iraqikurd and BlackRepublican head down the block to give them a piece of their minds. I joined them as it was so difficult for me to hold my tongue Tuesday night at their Baathist propaganda rally in D.C. and I had a few things I wanted to say to them about that.

I joined the two FReepers and we stood directly across the street from the Pinkos. We all gave them a bit of hell about their lies, their donations to terrorists in Fallujah, and such. One large woman came across the street to insist that they had a permit for both sides of the street, even though they weren't using the side we were on, and that we would have to move off. I moved about 25 feet to some imaginary line by a tree while the other two guys held their ground. Princess, the girly-man pinko who wears a skirt or something came over too. Iraqikurd and BlackRepublican engaged them in debate and the large woman kept trying to shoo them away. I blasted the Pinkos with a few choice comments and chants for a while and then got out my toys.

Iraqikurd and BlackRepublican were still holding their ground and had challenged the Pinkos to produce their permit which said that they held both sides of the street and that we could not be there. Some guy said he would go and get the permit, but never returned. Seeing that they could produce no legitimate claim to the side of the street we were on, I rejoined the two other FReepers and carried on.

BlackRepublican said he asked one of the Pinkos to see their permit so that the FReepers would know where to stand. The commie refused to produce the document and claimed "the police will make you move!" The police did indeed come and they made a group of people move -- but it wasn't us!

The D.C. Police are (almost) always courteous and professional having dealt with more protest events than anyone can count. The nice lady cop explained that a report for "noise" had been called-in and she wanted to see our permits. No problem. tgslTakoma and concretebob retrieved the documents from their respective vehicles, nice cop verified them, and said "have a nice night!"

The trio then went waaaaay down the block and asked to see the commie's permit. Amazingly, none of the Pinkos bring their permit on Friday nights!!!

B'bye!! See ya! Take off, eh?

Trooprally [Mr] was on the corner formerly occupied by the Pinkos when he and the other FReepers were "visited" by an agitated Gael Murphy and a "fellow traveler" the treasonous gang dug out of a spider hole somewhere in Iraq. She wanted Kristinn to make the noisy patriots leave the area across the street. Pinkos are such Pansies! Trooprally adroitly took advantage of the serendipitous situation to throw them further off balance. From his comment on last week's thread:

Since I was still on the southwest corner I recognized them [from Thursday night's FReep at Anne Arundel Community College] as they were walking up to us. When they got there, I stepped up and said Hi to the Iraqi women. She didn't recognize me since I had a different hat on. But once I asked her again about her accusation of the U.S. snipers in the Mosque minuets killing women and children, she recognized me.

When again questioned about the snipers, and that the U.S. troops couldn't even look at a Mosque, her answer that they went up there after we bombed the Mosques. There was no answer to why the biased MSM was not reporting our "atrocities". She also claimed that the new Iraqi government was a American puppet government. I asked why then were the Iraqis risking their lives to vote. NO answer.

She claimed that the U.S. was the reason that the insurgents were in Iraqi. I asked why then were Iraqis being blown up just standing in line to become civilian police, not soldiers, and Iraqis in the public square. NO answer.

Finally, I asked her if she remembers hearing about the baby lion cubs born outside Saddam's son's compound. She nodded yes. I then laid into her that there was a soldier on the other corner (CJ, who just happen to relate to me this story an hour earlier) that his unit was the first go into Baghdad and to enter Saddam's son's compound. He saw human bone remains in the lion cages.

Immediately, Gail M. took the women's arm and started to lead her away. I hope they were leaving because because of my arguments, but it could have been because they were down wind of my cigar smoke, not from my doing, but because God commanded the wind to blow in their direction.

*snicker* It could also be that hippies just naturally attract stinky smells.(pd)

While the Pinkos were unraveling, we were reveling in delight and appreciation at the appearance of yet another wonderful hero: PFC Joshua Sparling!

Josh and his father, Mike

Taking a breather...

For all the latest on Joshua, no one keeps a better record than Landry Fan! Check out the most recent post on her blog Landry's Life. LF herself has been laid up the past couple of weeks and is missed dearly by the rest of us. Get well soon, please!

Sparling and other WR patients tour Pentagon - by Albion Wilde

It was a special honor to see Joshua Sparling (accompanied by his father, veteran Mike Sparling) making his way on crutches from the hospital to the FReep lines. Wounded last year, Joshua has been struggling with a number of operations at Walter Reed that were aimed at saving his leg. He was honored by the President in January with an invitation to attend the State of the Union address. Earlier on the afternoon of the FReep, Josh was one of a group of troops recovering at Walter Reed to have been invited by the Department of Defense to the Pentagon for a visit.

"I've never seen anything so beautiful," said Joshua's father, Mike. "The Pentagon has thousands of employees, and it seemed they all turned out in these long hallways to greet the troops. They applauded, there were flags, and they played music like the Battle Hymn of the Republic -- I tell you, I'm 55 years old, but it brought tears to my eyes!" he continued. "They made Josh come in last because he is 82nd Airborne."

Josh picked up the story: "These tours are arranged between Walter Reed and the Pentagon, but they are all voluntary -- neither the troops nor the Pentagon employees are forced to do it. And the tours are not publicized, so the general public doesn't get the idea that the Department of Defense is using it for political gain.

"When you first go in," Josh continued, "the Pentagon employees are lined up on either side -- it's very emotional. Some of them were crying -- just overwhelming emotions. About 40 troops went, men and a couple of women and family members -- mothers, fathers -- my dad really enjoyed it."

One of the FReepers asked Josh what the patients at Walter Reed thought about the FReep. This brave soldier, who had faced lethal combat and took wounds on behalf of our nation's mission, replied, "I can't understand the determination out here! It's crazy how you come out here, cold or hot -- it's crazy and wonderful how you come out here!"

Before returning to WRAMC, Joshua sat for awhile with a pro-troops sign, then hoisted his crutches to visit FReepers on all four corners of the wide six-lane intersection. Talk about determination....

Whew! What a night! The honor roll of those in attendance (lurkers are marked with an asterisk*):

2ndClassCitizen, Albion Wilde, AlwaysFree, Bill* from MD, BillF, BlackRepublican, BufordP, chcknhawk, concretebob, CindyTrueSupporter, Danang68, Doctor Raoul, Dustin10thMountain, Fraxinus, George and Ethel*, Hoodlum91, iMacMan [Mr & Mrs], IraqiKurd, Jack Deth, Jimmy Valentine's Brother, Justanobody, Kristinn, PleaDeal, Sisku Hanne, Son of tgsl, Spiff, Taco Mamma, tgslTakoma, trooprally [Mr & Mrs], W04Man, and Barry & Celia from AL. If I missed someone, please throw a pretzel at me in the comments!

We got lots of honks, waves, "Thank You!"s and thumbs-up from passing cars, trucks and Metro buses as we waved our flags and hoisted our placards bearing messages of support for the troops and their mission. Thanks to record-high temps we were able to comfortably enjoy this fantastic night. BillF returned (HOORAY!) ready to join the festivities but his computer is not yet ready to produce his terrific AARs. Fortunately for me, some talented writers (Albion Wilde, chcknhawk, Spiff and Trooprally [Mr]) shared their stories and others shared their pics (chcknhawk, iMacMan, W04Man). Thank You Guys!!! Your contributions are greatly appreciated. I honestly don't know how BillF had been doing this all by himself - there's just too much going on! Thanks, BillF!

The pics with borders are courtesy of iMacMan with the exception of the pic attributed to chcknhawk.

Finally! The MOAB (Mother Of All Banners) back up where it belongs. The last few weeks have been way too windy to risk raising the banner and having the unfortunate FReeper holding down the end fly off down the street hanging on for dear life!

IraqiKurd in the foreground as the flags, banners, and assorted FReep-ware are unpacked and set out.

Trooprally [Mr] and BufordP (or is it 'X'?)

In the early part of the evening we were joined by a couple from Alabama who came to town to visit a soldier at WR. As Barry and Celia were leaving the hospital, they saw our banners, flags and placards and directed their cab driver to pull over and let them out. This wonderful duo didn't know about the anti-war idiots down the block - they were simply grateful and pleased to see so many people gathered to cheer and thank our wounded warriors.

They stayed and participated all evening! Thank you Barry & Celia!

Injured Walter Reed patients, including amputees, and their families have repeatedly told us how important it is for us to be there to counter Code Pink and their ugly anti-troops agenda.

It is the soldier who salutes the flag... who serves under the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag... who allows the protester to burn the flag.

Were it not for the brave... there would be no land of the free.

Fraxinus and 2ncClassCitizen

Let's help our wounded heroes maintain a positive attitude. We absolutely must keep the pressure on Code Pink and keep showing the wounded troops at Walter Reed that Code Stink doesn't speak for the nation. With moonbats streaming into town for yet another round of Bush-bashing and anti-military protests, we expect a lot of them will show up at Walter Reed on Friday, March 17th.

STAND UP FOR AMERICA THIS WEEKEND - COUNTER THE LEFT, SUPPORT OUR TROOPS

This FReep is rewarding, fun, and important for our troops and our nation. So come on out and make some new FRiends and thank some real Heroes!

For those of you in the DC area, we still need some additional FReepers to join us for FReeping Code Pink every Friday night, until further notice, starting at 6:30 pm and until about 9:30 pm. How about coming out this Friday? You can join us in progress if you can't make the beginning of the event.

Come help us fill All 4 Corners

Can you sacrifice an evening to honor the much greater sacrifice that the troops are making for our freedom?

As always, the DC Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect.

Briefly, they are: No violence. No profanity. No racism. No provocations. Obey the law. Treat all law enforcement officers with respect.

Walter Reed Army Medical Center, 7200 Georgia Ave. at Elder St., NW

Patriots have all four corners of that intersection with Protest Warrior having the permit for the two corners on the West and Free Republic DC Chapter having the permit for the two corners on the East.

On street parking is usually easy to find. Location is about 6 or 7 blocks from the Takoma metro station and is walkable, but it is best if you get a ride. If you want a ride, FReepmail tgslTakoma and/or BillF (assuming his computer comes back to life), preferably with your cell phone number as far in advance as possible. We'll do our best to arrange a ride from the Takoma Metro station for you.

Just waded through the sludge that is code pink's website ( so you don't have to ) to reconfirm that they haven't updated their "Walter Reed vigil" page since just before they were rightly driven away from the gate by their own stupidity and arrogance. December 2 is their last entry.

If their cause was that "important", then why did they stop mentioning it? Could it be that the media doesn't care anymore? No grandstand means no issue to them. To me it helps prove their insincerity as we all knew from the start.

Keep up the good work all.
