Former-President Bill Clinton insisted yesterday that he was in complete agreement with wife Hillary's objections on the Dubai ports buyout - even though he reportedly advised the Dubai royal family on how to make the deal fly.
"I supported Hillary's position, and the news reports to the contrary were wrong,” Mr. Clinton claimed while speaking in Harlem yesterday.
What about that phone call Joe Lockhart, his former White House scandal spokesman, made to the Dubai Ports World chairman to lobby for the deal? (The call was made to Chairman Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, according to congressional testimony by DPW CEO Edward Bilkey.)
Not so, the ex-president insisted yesterday, explaining that what really happened:
"I told [DPW] I couldn't understand why they wanted to do this, given all the problems we have with port security."
In quotes picked up by NY1, Clinton claimed that he warned the ports company that "there would be tremendous public and congressional opposition."
The ex-president did, however, acknowledge that he told the Sultan Ahmed that "if they were determined to press ahead, I thought they should not push the process, but should open it up, and they should actually propose things that would increase port security.”
But he maintained that he never asked anyone to support the deal, and insisted that Dubai Ports World never compensated him.
Clinton didn't mention the compensation he'd already taken from the U.A.E. royal family, which owns DPW - including $600,000 in speaking fees and a $1 million contribution to his presidential library.
Slick Willy wouldn't know the truth if it jumped up and bit Monica on the nose!

WOW...he must be losing his touch...this lie took way too long for him to concoct.
Oh yeah, Port Hillary needs an overhaul, it's main channel is collapsing and desparately needs re-dredging. The minimum draft available is so low that no shipping can enter.
Maybe the Clintons should hold a family meeting.
Bubba was urging his buddies in Dubai to hire his former aides to lobby for the deal.
"Hillary and I are on the same page. Unfortunately for her, my page is named Susie!"
I have never in my life seen anybody paint both sides of a fense at the same time the way that the clintoons do.
I don't think Hildabeast would mind being on a page named Susie.
The lying pig is beyond believe. Perhaps by age eight he had fully mastered all forms of dishonesty. He is a pathelogical lier.
C'mon, it was such a little thing, so easy to slip his busy mind. It's not easy to talk and cover it up at the same time.
Better headline: "Hillary Won't Let Me Live in the White House unless I Lie About This--Besides, the People Don't Care!"
I get kind of sentimental on these Bubba-bashing posts -- they remind of the early days of FR. Excuse me while I brush away a tear.
