Give Dem strategist Hillary Rosen high marks for candor.
It's been obvious for ages that from Medicare to Social Security to foreign policy, the Dems don't propose anything that comes close to a hint of a suggestion of an outline of a constructive proposal.
Just the same, Democrats deny that the only thing they have to offer is fear itself. They claim they're being constructive, and keep promising to come forth, at a date certain, with specific proposals. It's just that the date somehow manages never to arrive.
It was thus curiously refreshing to hear a Democrat admit what everyone knows: the Dems have no policy and see no reason to offer one. The particular context was the war in Iraq. Interviewing Rosen on this evening's Hardball, Chris Matthews asserted: "I don't think your [your?] party has a policy."
Acknowledged Rosen: "It doesn't have a policy. It doesn't need to have a policy. What's the point of a Democratic policy?"
Going to break, a palpably shocked Matthews exclaimed: "I can't believe you said that!"

A policy of wearing the population down until it just rolls over and capitulates.
Are we talking about the Democrats or the Iraqi terrorists?
There are lots of similarities, lots and lots.
BUMP!
Never getting around to telling us what his plan was...was part of the plan for John F'n Kerry. The hollow man just needed a variation of a phrase from Dr. King.
I trust you'll mercilessly ridicule him nonetheless?
Good post. I had to read it three times before I realized it wasn't satire.
Agreed. :)
On the contrary... he is really seeing the light and is about give up on the Dems for good.
Now my other neighbor who is a big lib and proudly talks about his communist mother... I seriously make him suffer...
I live in a bizarre neighborhood.
RATS don't need ideas they have Ubercons to do their dirty work.
There are few times for a third party, especially not now. Only thinking people tend to break from their party allegiances for a third party effort.
Republicans would tend to break from their loyalties more often than Democrats (the relative non-thinking).
(just my opinion)
****
Not Scrappleface?
;-)
A third party for the left-leaning side of the spectrum, you mean.
Any third party that takes votes from the Right will lead to Hillary! in the White House - just as Perot elected Bubba twice. That way lies madness.
Look for a "fiscal responsibility" party to arise in the next two years...
Thus the policy of the DemocRATic Party is to continue screaming "HATEBUSHHATEBUSHHATEHATEHATEBUSH..WAAAAAAHHHHHH!"
(need graphic of stick figure bashing his brain out on the computer)
His plan was that he was smarter than Bush and that if we gave him him a chance he would do a better job, whatever that means.
