A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

A Doggy Dictionary
LEASH: A strap which attaches to your collar, enabling you to lead your person whereyou want him/her to go.
SOFAS: Are to dogs like napkins are to people. After eating it is polite to run up and down the front of the sofa and wipe your whiskers clean.
DOG BED: any soft, clean surface, such as the white bedspread in the guest room or the newly upholstered couch in the living room.
DROOL: Is what you do when your persons have food and you don't. To do this properly you must sit as close as you can and look sad and let the drool fall to the floor, or better yet, on their laps.
GARBAGE CAN: A container which your neighbors put out once a week to test your ingenuity. You must stand on your hind legs and try to push the lid off with your nose. If you do it right you are rewarded with margarine wrappers to shred, beef bones to consume and moldy crusts of bread.
BICYCLES: Two-wheeled exercise machines, invented for dogs to control body fat. To get maximum aerobic benefit, you must hide behind a bush and dash out, bark loudly and run alongside for a few yards; the person then swerves and falls into the bushes, and you prance away.
SNIFF: A social custom to use when you greet other dogs. Place your nose as close as you can to the other dog's rear end and inhale deeply, repeat several times, or until your person makes you stop. This can also be done to human's crotches.
BICYCLES: Two-wheeled exercise machines, invented for dogs to control body fat. To get maximum aerobic benefit, you must hide behind a bush and dash out, bark loudly and run alongside for a few yards; the person then swerves and falls into the bushes, and you prance away.
DEAFNESS: This is a malady which affects dogs when their person want them in and they want to stay out. Symptoms include staring blankly at the person, then running in the opposite direction, or lying down.
THUNDER: This is a signal that the world is coming to an end. Humans remain amazingly calm during thunderstorms, so it is necessary to warn them of the danger by trembling uncontrollably, panting, rolling your eyes wildly, and following at their heels.
WASTEBASKET: This is a dog toy filled with paper, envelopes, and old candy wrappers. When you get bored, turn over the basket and strew the papers all over the house until your person comes home.
BATH: This is a process by which the humans drench the floor, walls and themselves. You can help by shaking vigorously and frequently.
BUMP: The best way to get your human's attention when they are drinking a fresh cup of coffee or tea.
GOOSE BUMPS: A maneuver to use as a last resort when the Regular Bump doesn't get the attention you require..... especially effective when combined with The Sniff. See above.
LOVE: Is a feeling of intense affection, given freely and without restriction. The best way you can show your love is to wag your tail or pray together. If you're lucky, a human will love you in return.
Gizmo: Gosh...this is a lot of work putting a thread together. Doggie and Kitty licks to "Aunt" Billie, for"creating our "NEW FINEST PET THREAD LOOK""!!!! (new backgrounds/borders :o) ) And, while we're at it, thanks to all our Finest Hostesses, contributors, "regulars" AND lovers of Freeper Pets!!! Okay...Yawn...think I'm ready for a nap but hope you "check in!!!!"

I can't tell what that animal is - I see it's a water fountain and a lady (cause I can see the painted nails LOL) has turned the water on, but it's so tiny I can't make out the animal. :(

And just when you unveiled Giz 'n Rusty 'n Fred's new look. :( And the new look looks so very classy. The dark brown with the gold....very nice! I can see by the style that Billie had a hand it in. :-)
You're welcome for the pledge graphic, dutchess. You know I love making them.
Have a great day, you two.

I don't think I have any recent photos of Little Prince Chachi that I haven't already posted. Guess I need to get my camera out and fix that. ;-)

This is so like my daughter's dog,Chipper, that we lost by cancer...He was acquired at a shelter..was obviously an abused dog..He was her constant and loyal companion for many years through her chronic illness..His "smile" was contagious..He was beautiful and knew it LOL..The pet groomers allowed him to roam around after his grooming ..He was their "pet".
His favorite sound was of my daughter arriving home, his second most favorite was the rattle of the leash..He loved exploring, sniffing, prancing, going as far as possible. (The sound of the treats package being opened should not be dismissed either! )
He was smart and we talked to him like he was human.
The grief we felt when he had to finally be put down after a brave battle with his illness was immense..The alpha cat, Scoots, who once scared him because of her swats, slept beside him his last days.
Who knows how animals sense and respond as they do.I know Weinie and Purty, Scoots mom, welcomed him at the Rainbow Bridge.
(Big lump in my throat..Chipper wasn't even mine...but I loved him.)

Does anybody have special tips on cooking corned beef and cabbage?
After all, I am a German! lonestar is a Texan and no help !!

That is such a moving response by Scoots!

A squirrel, thank you! It looks like it has a *sweater* on, but it must be the water - it's sorta the color of the water spray. Wish it had been a larger picture - it's cute. :)
