A large tornado has moved through Illinois and has just hit the City of Springfield. Spotters reported a large tornado moved through the city. Damage is being reported. Emergency responders are being called in from surrounding areas.
NWS reports that this was a large wedge tornado.
Duck Creek coming out of it's banks again now.
Yikes! No damage in the immediate vicinity, and I hope it stays that way!
Damn. Not again. I still remember the flood of '93.

A trustee of the town called into the Springfield news station...ambulances are on the way.....
Sitting here in DuPage County, IL, waiting for the storms to head our way later tonite. We are in a tornado watch until 4am this morning, so a long way to go still. I live in a pretty solid condo building, so I usually don't worry very much; however, my sister lives two towns over a bit south of me, and she is more in the line of fire during tornado season. She worries more because she lives in a slab townhome, so no basement to run to. There have been tornados that have touched down closer to her. They seem to like to run up the I-55 corridor, which isn't that far from her; actually not that far from me either (I'm in Downers Grove; she's in Bolingbrook). Well, guess we will sleep with one eye open tonite.

We used to get snow in Upper Yucaipa almost every year -- kids would go out at night to play in the snow as it would be gone by the next day. This one sounds like it may stay around longer. I wouldn't be going out of the garage as we lived near the top of hill that climbed up from Bryant.
I can remember having to have chains if you tried to cross the passes.
What's insane is all the millions of dollars that the city spent on remodeling the danged thing.
That's terrible.
Saying on our local weather that the severe weather is going to happen for the most part east of OK as the dry line moves through into MO/AR.

I hear it's wonderful now though. Didn't get over there last year since I didn't move back here until just recently. Definitely taking my boys to some games this summer though.
