APN) ATLANTA 30 US House Representatives have signed on as sponsors or co-sponsors of H. Res 635, which would create a Select Committee to look into the grounds for recommending President Bushs impeachment, Atlanta Progressive News has learned.
There has been massive support for House Resolution 635 from a very vigorous network of grassroots activists and people committed to holding the Bush Administration accountable for its widespread abuses of power, US Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) said in a statement prepared for Atlanta Progressive News.
The Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) also released a book, Articles of Impeachment Against President Bush. The Center is extremely influential in high-profile court fights over issues such as wiretapping, the treatment of detainees by the US, and felon voting rights.
We have the book, we are calling for the impeachment of the President, and were supporting Conyerss resolution, Bill Goodman, CCR Legal Director, told Atlanta Progressive News.
The fraudulent basis on which the President got us into the war in Iraq; the obvious criminality of the warrantless wiretapping; indefinite detention in violation of the Constitution; torture as a part of indefinite detention and other ways; special rendition and torture, which is the outsourcing of torture... All of these violate various laws of the US, and they also violate his oath office which he swears to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States, and hes doing just the opposite, hes undermining the Constitution and attempting to destroy certain parts of it, Goodman said.
Meanwhile, at least eight (8) US cities, including Arcata, Santa Cruz, and San Francisco, each in California; and Brookfield, Dummerston, Marlboro, Newfane, and Putney, each in Vermont, have passed resolutions calling for Bushs impeachment.

Did I miss the part about this being nothing more than a Vast Left Wing Conspiracy?
America is at war with terrorism and the Commie Dems want to "impeach" the President. When President Bush said, "you are either with us or you're with the terrorists," He was talking to the Communists in the so-called DemocRATic Party. I'll betcha a dollar to a donut that there will be a "civil war" in America before there will be one in Iraq. The DemocRATS have declared war on America. Whether we like it or not, we are going to have to fight back.
Conyers' Ethics Troubles Explode
Rep. Conyers' questionable ethics
Report- Conyers aides say he used them as sitters, servants
Former Conyers aides press ethics complaints
LOL - the funniest skit of all times!
They'd need 60 votes to remove him. Not going to happen.
At that time, the Dims will be demanding to know why "...the NSA/CIA/FBI didn't connect the dots. Why, they should have known! What did Bush know and when did he know it! It's all a conspiracy by Rove!"
C'mon, we already know how that goes!
I agree with the person who wants the great Dick Cheney for our next leader. What a decent, honest, brilliant, WITTY man. I adore him. Hope this message winds its way back to him, as I know our messages are monitored by the White House.
Don't you think the President leaving the border open to an invasion of illegals from Mexico might constitute a misdemeanor.
I think it is a better case than the one they will bring on Iraq.- Tom
They're still butt hurt over Clinton's impeachment, so like the obviously mature grown adults they are...."we'll show you! We'll impeach Bush"! Uh huh...
I don't support everything Bush does, but I don't believe he lied about Iraq. This is just playground politics, nothing else. Lord, please give these people something better to do.
I don't think it's a medical problem or we would have heard by now.
I notice it too. I think it's a combination of his being very cautious when speaking since any mistake will be pounced on by the media and his natural inarticulateness.
I was hoping someone could coach him and he'd improve. Ah well, we survived the first debate.
He needs a war room with tough, excellent communicators.
The problem conservatives face with their representation today is that too many of them are either too much like liberals, or they compromise their own integrity in the spirit of bipartisanship and fail to stand up for conservatism.
If there were a true conservative majority in Congress, many of us would be a lot happier with our government. I would also hope that they would keep spending in line and be stronger in standing against the continued attack and dissolution of our great republic from enemies both foreign and domestic.
Well count me in as one who thinks they have a better case for impeachment for failing to enforce our immigration laws and encouraging aliens to break the law with his talk of amnesty than they do for their other contrived reasons. He should come out strong against illegal immigration and put more assets where they are needed to enforce our laws. Lets change the word illegal aliens or Mexicans and put in the word Moslems and invite them all here and see how people would react to that. If you don't like that change aliens to Chinese or Russians and invite them all here. Imagine the President of the USA not knowing or changing the definition of the word amnesty. I for one am tired of being treated like a second class citizen while our leaders pander to illegals.
Here's a thread on impeachment... Talks about democrats but no republicans mentioned at this stage..... Conyers has been going at this for sometime now.
Anyone who thinks President Bush should be impeached for anything is a nut case.
"Wonder how many from the GOP has signed on?"
None, so far. All Dems, and all Moonbats as far as I can see. I don't know who the last two to sign on are, though, if they have 30 now:
The current 28 total co-sponsors are Rep. Neil Abercrombie (D-HI), Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Rep. Lois Capps (D-CA), Rep. William Lacy Clay (D-MO), Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), Rep. Sam Farr (D-CA), Rep. Maurice Hinchey (D-NY), Rep. Mike Honda (D-CA), Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-TX), Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA), Rep. John Lewis (D-GA), Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), Rep. Jim McDermott (D-WA), Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-GA), Rep. Gwen Moore (D-WI), Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), Rep. James Oberstar (D-MN), Rep. John Olver (D-MA), Rep. Major Owens (D-NY), Rep. Donald Payne (D-NJ), Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY), Rep. Martin Sabo (D-MN), Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), Rep. Fortney Pete Stark (D-CA), Rep. John Tierney (D-MA), Rep. Nydia Velazquez (D-NY), Rep. Rep. Olver (D-MA) was convinced to sign on by constituents who represented Progressive Democrats of America, The Nation Magazine reported in February.
