A friend of mine took these pictures of a cougar.  He lives right outside of Yellowstone, and the cougar apparently wanted to get inside of his house.

Poor kitty, he looks so cold,...did you warm up some Ovaltine and offer him/her some?

Oh, c'mon now,...you wouldn't have the heart to do that would you,...I mean after all the door was made out of glass, you wouldn't just jamb the barrel through the door instead of wasting time opening it..

I just read about purring in Life of PI.

Big cats, tigers, purr but only as breathing out. Domestic cats purr when breathing in and out. That is a difference.

Life of Pi is wonderful.

Come to think of it, it may have something to do with the new HOSTS file that I installed this week.

That would be my first check.

Reading it, it's an interesting strategy for handling redirects - but I think I would be tempted to only use it to handle some of the worst offenders. The bigger it gets, the more likely it's going to include someone you might actually want to get to, and the harder it will be to track down.

20 bucks says you're afraid of scratching his belly...

Deadly...yet, what a beautiful animal...no one here can deny that.

Bet your friend doesn't step outside for a smoke, anytime soon!!!

All we get around here are possums and the occasional gopher.

It must have been looking for Elisha Cuthbert.

You have to be a "24" fan to get the joke.

I've never seen 24, but I'm looking for Elisha Cuthbert myself!

Rules, my good friend, Rules!

There, that's better! Gotta follow the rules!

Well, and a 9mm 147grains hydrashock(tm) can fly 650mph from a standing position, and do a vertical leap of about half a mile. Not to mention that it could kill [although not drag] anything below 250 pounds. A rifle bullet would do even better.

While that would be better than your fingernails, I don't think that I'd step out of the house with anything less than a .44Mag with a 180gr HP while the bears are hibernating, and 300gr JFP when they're about! Yikes! Given the heavy fur pelt, musculature, and thick bones, I honestly think that unless the first shot scared the cat away, a 9mm with heavy hollowpoints wouldn't be too much use.

As I always say, people freak out about the rare human fatalities due to big dogs, but if housecats grew to the size of a rottweiler (100+ pounds, the size of a smallish cougar), annual fatalities would be in the thousands.

Pound for pound, cats are a lot more "bad-ass", and a lot more apt to "go off", than dogs.

No kidding! If we were to be magicly reduced to 1/10th size, I think that our dogs would still recognize us as their buddies. I think that cats would see us as a snack.

And I love cats.
