RALEIGH, North Carolina (AP) -- The hair of a former Army doctor convicted in the slayings of his wife and two daughters was found clutched in his dead wife's hand, according to long-awaited results of DNA testing made public Friday.
Jeffrey MacDonald asked for the DNA testing in 1997, claiming it would bolster his argument that a band of crazed hippies killed his family in 1970.
But federal prosecutors said Friday in a statement the testing did not find any DNA from either of the two women named by MacDonald as suspects.
Both MacDonald's lead attorney, Tim Junkin, and his current wife, Kathryn, said they believe at least one piece of evidence uncovered during the DNA testing will help MacDonald's case. A hair from an unidentified person was found under the fingernail of MacDonald's youngest daughter, Kristen.
And while it does not match the women MacDonald identified as suspects, they said it bolsters MacDonald's argument there were at least two other unidentified assailants in the MacDonald home during the attack.

more proof of guilt
It boggles my mind how killers like MacDonald manage to find people to support their spurrious claims of innocence.

Don't you love it?
His "current wife" - Who are these broads who marry guys who are serving life sentences? Maybe they just like knowing where their husband is? And what about the guy? I mean isn't being in prison bad enough with being married, too?

It is not like he had anything to lose. He is serving a life sentence and has already exhausted all his appeals. He has had Alan Dershowitz and all kinds of high profile attorneys. His problem is simple. He did it.
Well...
Um...
Er...
Uh...
IT MUST HAVE BEEN MARK FURMAN!!!
But for the efforts of Fred Kassab, stepfather of McDonald's murdered wife, he'd have gotten away scot-free.
Nah. It's Bush's fault!!
I am not an expert and do not know the case very well, but there seems to be a lot of evidence pointing the other way, chiefly Helena Stoeckley and others being in the house and confessing later. I do not know what to think about all the conflicting evidence.
The crime scene was hopelessly muddled, much like the JonBenet case.
the test results released today FAIL to link Stoeckley (or Mitchell) as MacDonald had claimed it would.

We have known this from the beginning.
He's been milking this case for years. His followers are like a cult, few that there are.
What was his motive supposed to be?
Clearly the bushy-haired stranger had the DNA test faked, too.
----He needs to let it go. He has been caught in one lie after the other during/after the murders and ANY credibility he had was shot to hell years ago.
The good doctor is another guy that I hope just goes away, finally.
"band of crazed hippies"
IMO, McDonald was playing the public sentiment over the Tate-Labianca murders with Charles Manson and his band of 'Helter-Skelter' crazed hippies.
