Chicago police say as many as 100,000 protestors are gathering outside the Chicago Federal Center to voice their concerns about a house bill that would tighten immigration laws. The massive demonstration has blocked many streets in the Loop.

The border security bill would make it illegal to assist any undocumented immigrant. That measure is drawing the attention of numerous groups and lawmakers on both sides of the issue.

Thousands of demonstrators gathered at the Chicago Federal Center to protest the house bill 4437. They believe the bill discriminates against undocumented residents and those who try to help them and it robs them of a chance at the American dream.

This has become a major problem. With as many as 11 million illegals in this country, these people could cause immense disruption of our day to day lives. This crap better be opening some eyes in Washington.

I heard many were bussed in from Mexico, as in from the country of Old Mexico, not the state of New Mexico.

Laws discriminating against criminals is a bad thing?

"A lot of parents are immigrants and have citizen children and that will cause them to be separated and it is not fair because citizen or not, we have rights. And we want to live the American dream, not just Americans," said Celina Nunez.

Listen up! Citizen or not, they have rights!

The American dream is not just for Americans, says Celina!

Mexico has lobbyists walking the halls of Congress, as we speak, on behalf of Celina and she knows it.

Discrimination against those breaking the law, and those helping them to do so? How horrible. /s

As far as a shot at the American dream, they can get in line with all the would be immigrants who are following the legal procedure for immigrants to come here. Indian doctors, Filipina nurses, and others with something to contribute have just as much entitlement, more in fact, to such a shot. And what about those already here, who dreams are stymied by high taxes required to support the illegals?

This is not the United States of Mexico

Indeed, but Ustados Unidos de Mexico doesn't put up with folks illegally crossing it's southern border either, so why should the USA?

Thousands of illegals demanding "their" rights.

The story I read said thousands of protestors, nothing about them being illegals. There are protests everyday about something. Much ado about nothing.

100,000? Don't these people have jobs?

Many of the protesters were high school students that were let out early to attend rally.

Laws discriminate against criminals. That's the nature of things. Instead of "demonstrating", how about introducing and passing a law making illegal entry into the country OK? Decriminalize it!

Wait...

That's a Federal issue.

Never mind.
