As an anti-war candidate, Dixon says he's no 'spoiler' (Dem. Maria Cantwell re-election in trouble)

I do not look at myself as a spoiler," Aaron Dixon insisted Thursday as the one-time Seattle Black Panther leader announced his anti-war Green Party candidacy opposing Democratic U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell.

At a news conference at an assisted-living center in the Central Area, the black community activist made clear that his campaign is built around the Iraq war and the one-term senator's votes supporting it as well as her votes for the Patriot Act and a few other Republican military and security initiatives.

If she was against the war, then I would be a spoiler, stealing her anti-war votes," Dixon told a roomful of supporters and news media. "If both the Republican challenger (businessman Mike McGavick) and Cantwell are in support of this war, then they are competing amongst themselves for the voters who are pro-war. I am the anti-war vote."

History, however, suggests Dixon isn't likely to become anything more than a spoiler who, in a close general election, could peel enough left-leaning votes away from the Democratic senator to jeopardize her re-election.

"We welcome his candidacy," state Republican Chairwoman Diane Tebelius said. :)

Since I am 110% behind Mike McGavick winning this election and kicking that useless Hillary croney, Cantdowell out of D.C., I have to proudly say...

"RUN AARON RUN!!!!!"

This Mike McGavick have any traction in WA? I would LOVE to see Cantwell go down in flames.

Hope Dixon gets every antiwar vote in King county. McGavick will be our new senator if he does.

His assumption is that everyone is a single issue voter and that issue is support of the war.

If Dixon gets every antiwar vote in King County, Dixon might be the next senator from WA.

OK, I'm exaggerating, but not by much.

I predict he will get some traction. At the end of the day, Cantwell hasn't really accomplished anything in her term besides suck up to her Sierra Club check writers.

Mike is a local guy who has a good reputation. The WA republican party totally backed him running. Read his bio. Impressive.

I've already donated to his campaign and hope that I might get involved as a volunteer as well.

What "reelection"? She wasn't elected in 2000 (not that that stopped the Dem Voter Fraud Corps).

Well I for one will do my part to make sure she's not there for another 6 years.

Hopefully, the dem voter fraud corps will have the screws put to them this time.

If this guy represents any real threat to the Dims, they are already preparing pro-Cantwell voter boxes that will suddenly be discovered the day after the election.

This had to start happening right about now. All over the country the first county wide conventions are starting. As the weeks go by more and more of them will take place. The ratmedia can TELL us the rat is in great shape but the rank and file rat isn't buying it. EXAMPLE: Bob Ney facing the FOURTH choice of the rat to go up against him, a GOP freshman in Pa. running unopposed. The rat's phony "Band of Brothers" is nothing but a Band of Frauds.

The bottom rung KNOWS things aren't going well. They will start demanding: surrender in Iraq, higher taxes and gay "marriage".

When the establishment rat denies them, they will start putting up people like this. Not everywhere of course. In many places the bottom rung rat doesn't realize he is being run by the "man". He thinks he's in charge. He aint. But enough of these guys will be running to hurt the rat.

I already expect that Seattle will be visited by her royal heinous to fund raise for Cantwell at least twice this year.

It took weeks to get the smell out of the city the last time Hitlery visited here for a fund raiser.

The MSM will do everything possible to help the dems, including biased poll numbers and republican bashing articles about how they are all behind so nobody should waste time coming out to vote for them.

Both Seattle newspapers will be on Cantwell's side throughout this.

Can R's win elections in Washington. How many dead and felons will still be voting.

Also, how does the new primary system play into this? It's "top two" right? Green vs. Dem?

Mike McGavick started out promisingly, but has lost ground. He currently trails by about 10 to 15 points. Dixon's candidacy will help, but it won't be enough by itself.

McGavick has been damaged by Bush's unpopularity in Washington (greater than the nation as a whole) and his continuing to be on a corporate payroll while running for political office.

Fortunately, he still a viable candidate.
