Take Back The Memorial at Ground Zero

To All 9/11 Families, Friends and Supporters,

On January 24, 2006 the LMDC Family Advisory Council (FAC) met with LMDC President Stephan Pryor and WTC Memorial Foundation President Gretchen Dykstra as well as several members of their staff. At this meeting numerous issues were discussed including: the proper listing of the Names; putting Artifacts like the sphere and tower facades at the street level of the WTC site; preserving the Footprint remnants at bedrock; moving the Memorial Museum above ground; and the security and safety of visitors to the site. LMDC President Pryor and his representatives were noncommittal in their response to the concerns raised.

On February 27, 2006, the Advocates for a 9/11 Fallen Heroes Memorial with support of the NYPD and FDNY unions held a rally at the WTC site demanding that the LMDC address the issues outlined above as well as the issue of raising the Memorial itself above ground.

A week after the rally and 6 weeks after the FAC meeting, LMDC President Pryor chose to respond to the concerns in a letter addressed to the FAC. Mr. Pryor chose not to tell the FAC that this letter had already been released to the NY Post. Pryor's letter to members of the Families Advisory Council was misleading. Transcripts we have obtained through a Freedom of Information Request belie his assertions.

Despite as he claimed in the letter that the LMDC has always worked in "good faith" this is clearly not good faith. We consider this highly unprofessional act the final straw and will no longer deal with the LMDC. We demand a meeting with Governor Pataki and his Chief of Staff John Cahill.

We are asking each of you to email and/or phone Governor Pataki telling him that the LMDC does not act in good faith and that the Governor and his Chief of Staff must meet with the Take Back the Memorial representatives and historic preservation groups prior to the commencement of construction. Additionally, to increase the pressure, please contact NY State Senators Schumer and Clinton as well as your state representatives asking for their support.

Time is short; on March 13th construction will begin on this seriously flawed Memorial. America deserves more.

Email Governor Pataki: http://www.ny.gov/governor/contact/index.html Phone Governor Pataki: (518) 474-8390

Thank you for your continued support.

Everyone Email Pataki and your own state representatives; his (Pataki) inept appointees on the Lower Manhatten Development Corporation are again behaving like deaf dictators.

And Email copies of this notice to friends and family and even the media, any and everywhere. We need to create a blitz into Pataki's office on this NOW.

The best memorial to the victims would be to rebuild the WTC as it was, only twice as tall.

I think the best memorial we can see is a two grassyfootprints in the place of the towers. A park environment in the middle of the concrete jungle that shows the world we can afford to let that site sit open for preservation of the hallowed ground that place is.

We can show them that the WTC was not the legit target they claim it to be because we can do the business that was done there elsewhere. We should show the world what moral standing this nation has and make a park out of the entire site with the footprints of the towers only being entered to mow tall lush green grass. I offer that no more respect can be offered to a place where so many died such needless deaths than to consider it hallowed ground only suited for reflection of the events of that sad, sad, day.

That land is far too valuable for that. Besides, to me a failure to rebuild it better and higher is an admission of defeat.

Using your logic, Pearl Harbor should be returned to a quiet pristine lagoon.

Pealr harbor was a State actor issue. 9 11 was not. Though the two instances show many similar aspects, some are also very different.

The fact it is so valuable is one reason I offer to leave it undeveloped. That is not a sign of defeat, indeed it is thumbing our nose at those that seek our destruction. We are 'rich' enough, resolved enough, and adaptive enough to do the business done at that site pre 9 11 elsewhere.

It is hardly an admission of defeat, indeed rebuilding it would be that very admission.

Defeat would be projected by showing them that we have to have that site do the business that was done there....like we cannot do without it. I offer that we should show them how they erred in their thinking about this nation.

So .. they want the memorial UNDERGROUND so as not to remind people of what happened ..??

Hmmmmm?? Sounds like the typical liberal plan .. too worried about offending Muslims.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. I think the quick restoral of business and commerce and the IN THEIR FACE rebuilding of the WTC at twice the size is like an

"I got'cha fear of terrorism ovah heah!"

To all the Islamofascists.

You must challenge them and dare them to try it again, only this time be ready for 'em.

At least we agreeon the 'in your face' idea. We seem to have common ground there. Just seperate Ideas of how to accomplish that.

I am sure they will try some more of their game and I think that fact alone is why W has it right. Take the fight to them instead of sitting and waiting for their eventual attack to come.

These folks learned over a period of time from Carter to Clinton that they could attack with impunity and that only made the scale and scope of their attacks grow.

In their face all right.....and indeed.......as a great man once said....BRING EM ON.

That's what I've been saying, too. It tells us much of how the character of America has changed that this isn't the automatic reaction. In other words, the true American character is bold and defiant in the face of aggression. The response they came up with is artsy, almost apologetic and a continuing symbol that we are obsessed with our wounded self-image.

On September 21, 2001, President Bush addressed this nation. He promised, we will rebuild.

5 years later, ground zero has turned into nothing but a cess pool of pay to play contracts held hostage among the leftist, agenda ridden forces that helped contribute to our nations demise.

I hope ever last one of them rots in hell.

To: Calpernia; All

We really need a national movement to:

(1)"federalize" the 9/11-Ground Zero Memorial;

(2) obtain legislation for:

(a) a Presidential commission whose Chairman (with the final say-so) appointed by the President (I nominate Debra Burlingame), with

(b) funding to include 100% needed for the Memorial, with that funding including land purchase and building construction, cost of the commission and its staff, besides alll other Memorial related costs;

and

(3)with the Memorial, thereafter to:

(a)be maintained by the Federal Park service,
(b)out of the Federal Park service budget,
but
(c)with the President's appointed "9/11 Memorial Commission" Chairman continuing to have final say-so on any changes/updates at the memorial.

How do we do this?

I don't know. It won't be easy to get the real victim families involved either. Many are still in a lot of pain.

One tidbit that has not been followed up on in the media are the deaths that still have followed.

A large amount of people were young enough to have their parents still alive. In the tradition of 'parents shouldn't outlive their children', many have been dying. This has been leaving already shattered lives even more shattered. And a lot of very young children very confused about where their families have gone.

The leftist bastards out fund and out voice the right.

Until the NGO funding is stopped, we are powerless.

There has from the begining been alot of political postering over whether or not the twin towers could be reconstructed and that reconstruction solve the engineering issues that some think contributed to its collapse.

Some think it could only be done in a way where the outside appearance resembled the original but the structural elements were built differently.

Some, thought(a)that construction on a replacement could begin outside the original footprint sooner than the original footprint would be ready for construction (wrong - ignored how much politics would delay construction), (b) yet, there is not/was not likely to be sufficient area outside of the original footprint for two towers equal to the orignal.

Thus, no one could find sufficient agreement with sufficient numbers of other people on a process that would result in rebuilding the towers, because too many other people did not want to even consider rebuilding them.

Why is there such concern for the footprints? There is no footprint where the Pentagon was hit.
