"Iraqi Pol: We Foiled Al Qaeda Infiltration Plot"
Wednesday, March 15, 2006
BAGHDAD, Iraq
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "A senior Defense Ministry official said the 421 Al Qaeda fighters were recruited to storm the U.S. and British embassies and take hostages. Several ranking Defense Ministry officials have been jailed in the plot, said the official, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the information.
Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said Tuesday that he had not received anything definitive on the report, but cautioned that earlier accounts are often adjusted later on.
"We've always known that there are people who have tried to infiltrate the various security forces and tried to get close access to places that they ought not to be," he said. "There's nothing new about that that I know of.""

Bookmarked and will read it.
Thank you backhoe.
I appreciate that, and when you are in a mood for "information overload!" take a look at another, very old, very long post from FR's elder days, that also ties names, dates, events, and people all together.
Thanks you backhoe.
I vaguely remember that -- must be the catchy title.
FYI, Toronto's population of Tamil Tigers is the largest outside of Sri Lanka.
The former Liberal government refused to label them as terrorists because the tigers always vote Liberal.
The New Conservative government will change this situation.
Parliament sits again in April.

Can we call him a terrorist - yet?
Stunning info. fanfan. I hope that you are correct, and the new Conservative gov. changes this situation. Makes me wonder how many have visited us across the border.
