House Passes Immigration Enforcement Bill H.R. 4437 What Does It Mean? What Does It Include?
Is the passing of H.R. 4437, The Border Protection, Antiterrorism, and Illegal Immigration Control Act of 2005, a victory or a defeat for immigration reform proponents? It really depends on who you ask. While it is a victory in the way it has galvanized support in the House, there is no way that a majority of the amendments are going to make it through the Senate when the two meet in a Conference Committee. The Senate, who seems to really be the enemy of all those who want true immigration reform -- and therefore most Americans, intends to include a guest worker amnesty no matter what in their bill. They'll be putting theirs together in February.
Items not included in the House bill that passed include chain migration, birthright citizenship and identification fraud.
The items that did pass and were a victory in the bill include:
700 miles of border fence in high drug smuggling and illegal alien crossing areas and in areas where illegal alien deaths are at their highest.
Mandate that Federal government cooperate with local officials in picking up detained illegal aliens. This ends catch and release and allows local law enforcement to detain illegal aliens rather than calling federal officials who tell them just to release them.
Mandatory worker legal verification through electronic means for all employers phased in over several years. Also reports to be sent to Congress one and two years after implementation to ensure that it is being used.
Elimination of the visa lottery, which basically draws 50,000 people out of a hat each year and gives them the right to citizenship without regard to criminal or terrorist potential.
Prohibits grants to a federal, state, or local government agency that enact or have a sanctuary policy

Yep WCG. Some seem to be operating on their own agenda. Also, it is not uncommon for the members of the second term cabinet to resign prior to the end of that term. And FEMA is still operating under a temporary director. With Brown operating in such a way that he had to work in coordination with Chertoff...it is not surprising that the Katrina response was a mess.

I'm waiting for the MSM to publish it on page 50 of their 49 page newspaper.
There are questions here on the local (Sacramento)news about the informant's credability and this is one of those areas. This claim is highly unsubstantiated. Hopefully this won't hurt the prosecution's case.
BINGO! Just because we've identified one group in one location doesn't mean there aren't several more of these groups among us in multiple locations (many in coalition countries as well).
Obviously you missed it in their February 29th edition (you know, the one where they were "fair and balanced.")
Was that comment meant for "the weekly reader" crowd? Does he seriously believe US citizens are that dense not to know about street gangs? (sighing and eyes rolling) He really does need to get out more among Americans and see for himself the concerns we have. A nice long trip to cities bordering Mexico (non-photo-op type) might do him good.

"Iraq officials say al-Qaida planned to storm Green Zone"
By BASSEM MROUE
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "BAGHDAD, Iraq - The Iraqi interior minister said Tuesday that authorities had foiled an al-Qaida plot that would have put hundreds of its men at critical guard posts around Baghdad's heavily fortified Green Zone, home to the U.S. and other foreign embassies as well as the Iraqi government.
A senior Defense Ministry official said the 421 al-Qaida fighters were actually recruited to storm the U.S. and British embassies and take hostages.
Several ranking Defense Ministry officials have been jailed in the plot, the official said on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the information.
Interior Minister Bayan Jabr, in an interview with The Associated Press, said the 421 al-Qaida recruits were one bureaucrat's signature away from acceptance into an Iraqi army battalion whose job is to control the gates and main squares in the Green Zone.
The plot was discovered three weeks ago."
