Immigration bills would crack down on illegals in Oklahoma
OKLAHOMA CITY — Members of Oklahoma’s Latino population say their growing numbers and economic clout are fueling a spate of election-year immigration bills that would crack down on illegal immigrants by forcing ordinary public employees to report them.
The bills are a response to a wave of immigration in the state that lawmakers complain have taken jobs from Oklahoma citizens and is sapping scarce tax dollars for education, health care and a variety of social services they say frequently are used by immigrants.
“We can’t afford to be the welfare state for the whole world,” said Rep. Kevin Calvey, R-Del City, a candidate for the 5th Congressional Dis-trict seat who is shepherding an immigration bill through the Legislature to require state and local government workers to report suspected illegal aliens to federal authorities.

America is based on law. It cannot compromise that base.
Illegals streamed through the streets, telling reporters that they are only good human beings seeking to make America strong.
If they wanted to make America strong, they should have stayed out of America until they went through the legal procedures for entering America. Don’t shout hypocritical, irrational comments to American reportage and expect logical citizens to buy into it. Not.
They were fighting Congress on HR 4437—the Border Protection, Antiterrorism, and Illegal Immigration Control Act of 2005.
Just look at those words: "Border Protection." Who would march against protecting America’s borders?

Homeland Security Issues Bulletin On Terror Threats

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The FBI has issued an intelligence bulletin to law enforcement around the country warning them of an internet posting discussing attacks against large sporting venues.
This came just days away from the NCAA Tournament, where the University of Dayton Arena will host parts of the event.
The NCAA says it has been in touch with Homeland Security and the FBI about the issue, but they do not believe there is an imminent threat. A University of Dayton spokesperson said the arena will have heightened security.

The new homeland security center to be built in Bethpage could position Long Island as a global leader in security research, said the state lawmakers who secured a $21.1 million grant for the project.
Construction of the New York State Center for Innovation and Excellence in Homeland Security will cover 5 acres near the Northrop Grumman campus. Officials said they hope to break ground on the 65,000-square-foot building by the end of this year.
The center, which will let New York companies and researchers develop, test, evaluate and deploy new security technologies, is expected to create 9,800 jobs across the state, with thousands of those on Long Island, officials said.

The Chavez strategy is in a critical phase. The Mexican presidential election is scheduled for July 2, 2006, and the favored candidate to win is Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, a leftist who is currently leading his closest opponent, Felipe Calderon, by over ten percentage points.
Obrador claims not to have any affiliations beyond Mexico's historical political traditions, but his supporters include militant socialists who openly support the communist rebels in Colombia, a conflict which has taken tens of thousands of lives. Many others have developed a loyalty to Chavez and his particular brand of Marxism.
Chavez has borrowed from Lenin, Mao, and Fidel Castro of Cuba, among others, to develop "bolivarian" socialism, what is termed "21st century socialism," which, so far, looks very similar to other Marxist schemes. The term "bolivarian" comes from the name of the great South American liberator, Simon Bolivar, who defeated Spanish colonial forces in the early 19th century.
Should Obrador win, as many expect, a large number of his supporters will be communist militants willing to use force to bring leftist policies into reality."

Central-city homeowner shoots, injures intruder (OH)

Toledo police said a man was shot by a homeowner early Saturday after the man allegedly broke into the central-city home.
Police, responding to a burglary-in-progress call at 1566 Buckingham St., found resident Darron Doss and the suspect, John Curry, of 643 Nebraska Ave., on the rear porch. Mr. Doss told police that Mr. Curry broke into his residence about 2:30 a.m. on Saturday. Mr. Doss said he armed himself with a shotgun and fired a warning shot.
Police said Mr. Curry was wounded and he was taken to Toledo Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "KATHMANDU, March 14 (Reuters) - Roads across Nepal were deserted on Tuesday, the first day of an indefinite blockade of Kathmandu and other major towns called by Maoist rebels mounting pressure on King Gyanendra who seized full power last year.
The Maoists, fighting to overthrow the Hindu monarchy and set up a single party communist republic, have ordered the closure of all roads to the capital, disrupting the movement of people and goods to the city of more than 1.5 million.
"There is a dead silence and the highway, which used to be crowded on other days, is deserted now," said Sagar Gautam, a resident in Aaptari, a key point on the way into Kathmandu, 130 km (80 miles) southwest from the capital.
Police officer Thaneswor Dhakal said army escorts would be provided for vehicles if they were prepared to run and the government has offered compensation for any attacks.
Residents in Nepalgunj and the tourist town of Pokhara in west Nepal and the key business towns of Butwal and Birgunj in the southern plains said trucks and buses had been locked up in garages and roads were empty of vehicles.
"It is quiet but peaceful," journalist Bikram Niraula, said from the commercial centre of Biratnagar, 550 km (340 miles) east of Kathmandu.
Police said there were no reports of violence.
In the past, the Maoists have successfully blockaded Kathmandu for several days, cutting off the hill-ringed city from the rest of the country.
Officials said Kathmandu had enough foodgrains for two months and enough petrol, kerosene and diesel for two weeks."

Notice Continuation of the National Emergency with Respect to Iran
On March 15, 1995, by Executive Order 12957, the President declared a national emergency with respect to Iran pursuant to the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (50 U.S.C. 1701-1706) to deal with the unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States constituted by the actions and policies of the Government of Iran. On May 6, 1995, the President issued Executive Order 12959 imposing more comprehensive sanctions to further respond to this threat, and on August 19, 1997, the President issued Executive Order 13059 consolidating and clarifying the previous orders.
Because the actions and policies of the Government of Iran continue to pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States, the national emergency declared on March 15, 1995, must continue in effect beyond March 15, 2006. Therefore, in accordance with section 202(d) of the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1622(d)), I am continuing for 1 year the national emergency with respect to Iran. Because the emergency declared by Executive Order 12957 constitutes an emergency separate from that declared on November 14, 1979, by Executive Order 12170, this renewal is distinct from the emergency renewal of November 2005.
This notice shall be published in the Federal Register and transmitted to the Congress.
