Threat Matrix: Daily Terror Threat - Thread Thirty-Five

:::FreeRepublic's Threat Matrix:::
Unrest in Pakistan Setback for Terror War
(Full Story)

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan -- A week of unprecedented urban fighting in the wild tribal belt of North Waziristan has left scores dead and forced thousands to flee their homes, raising the stakes in Pakistan's war on Islamic militancy along the Afghan border.

A jumbled alliance of foreign militants, local tribesmen and Islamic students eager for jihad have stepped up resistance in a region where the army already claims to have wiped out al-Qaida as a viable fighting force.

The unrest, brewing for months, is a setback to the U.S.-led war on terror. Further hampering that effort are deteriorating relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan over Afghan claims that Taliban leader Mullah Omar is hiding in Pakistan and suicide bombers are training here.

Press Release
December 15, 2005

Chairman James Sensenbrenner is promoting legislation that would worsen one of the broken features of current immigration enforcement law. This bill, the "Border Protection, Anti-Terrorism, and Illegal Immigration
Control Act of 2005" (H.R. 4437), will expand the number of detainees held indefinitely."

Sensenbrenner Introduces Immigration Reform Bill; Legislation Aims to Prevent Illegal Immigration by Controlling Our Borders and Holding People Accountable

WASHINGTON, Dec. 6 /U.S. Newswire/ -- House Judiciary Committee Chairman F. James Sensenbrenner, Jr. (R-Wis.) today introduced legislation that aims to prevent illegal immigration by addressing the hiring of illegal immigrants and gaining control of our borders. H.R. 4437, the Border Protection, Antiterrorism, and Illegal Immigration Control Act of 2005, aims to reestablish respect for immigration laws and to hold people accountable by cracking down on employers hiring illegal workers, smugglers trafficking in human beings as well as confronting the emerging problem of alien gangs. H.R. 4437 also incorporates the border security legislation approved by the Homeland Security Committee last month, H.R. 4312. H.R. 4437 will be considered Thursday by the House Judiciary Committee with House consideration expected next week.

*It has cleared the House {by a narrow margin}
It is time NOW to make sure it passes the Senate this week!

Sensenbrenner's Immigration Enforcement Bill Passes the House

Approval Challenges Senate to Match Effort at Protecting Homeland Security and American Workers

By a 239-182 vote the House of Representatives approved the Border Protection, Antiterrorism and Illegal Immigration Control Act, H.R. 4437, on December 16. The legislation, authored by Judiciary Committee Chairman James Sensenbrenner (R-Wis.), would make improvements in this nation’s ability to control rampant illegal immigration.

H.R. 4437 calls for a variety of steps to rein-in mass illegal immigration. At the southern border, the legislation authorizes construction of an additional 700 miles of security fencing, similar to the highly effective barrier already in place in the San Diego area. The bill would also require implementation of an electronic verification system to be used by all employers to ensure that the workers they hire are legal residents. Failure to comply with the verification procedure could result in fines of up to $7,000 per violation for a first offense and as high as $40,000 the third time an employer gets caught hiring illegal aliens.

Illegal aliens themselves would also face stiffer penalties for violating U.S. immigration laws under H.R. 4437. Illegal entry, now considered a misdemeanor offense, would become a felony and illegal aliens could receive jail time for immigration violations.

Controllers blamed for 2 near-collisions

Air traffic controllers at O'Hare Airport were apparently at fault for two incidents last week in which planes had to abort take-offs to avoid hitting other aircraft, the Federal Aviation Administration said Saturday.

Only about 100 feet separated two planes Tuesday that were instructed to take off at the same time on intersecting runways, FAA spokesman Tony Molinaro said.

Thursday morning, two planes came within 600 feet of each other before the pilots were alerted and one plane stopped its takeoff.

Illegals will strain state's economy

I moved here from Southern California myself a year ago due to the illegal immigration problem in California.

Mr. Main is 100 percent correct: We must control or stop altogether the soaring and costly influx of immigrants. Due to the financial burden placed on the California public services such as hospitals, education, law enforcement and the like, California is experiencing huge financial difficulties. The old saying in California is "would the last American to leave please take down the flag."

I've witnessed first hand how immigration strangles our economy, and I won't let it happen to Missouri.

How older citizen might view illegals

Most older Americans talk politics different from their children and grandchildren.
After seven or eight decades on this Earth, they've seen a lot, so their opinions are based on observations more than abstract arguments.

A young man debating immigration will cite demographic facts and economic figures.

"In California, population density is rising each year,'' he might say. "If we liberalize our immigration laws the growth rate will only increase, and crime will increase with it.''

An old man will offer an insight into human nature, or tell a story hoping to convey an underlying truth.

"When I was young we used to hunt rabbits where that new tract is going up,'' he might say. "Now there are so many people crowding together that there's no room for a peaceful life. I've seen a lot of places where people are packed together. Every time they just got more crowded, covered in graffiti and run down.''

Many Americans - older Americans particularly - have cultural concerns about immigration. After a lifetime observing this country, its culture, and its people, they find some changes today deeply troubling. They may join the conversation about how immigrants affect employment figures or how illegal immigration has taxed the Department of Homeland Security.

Yet they've formed their opinions based on something more complex and intuitive. They take a lifetime of experiences, insights and observations. These coalesce into a worldview. That worldview affects their opinions on immigration; immigration affects their worldview, too.

"All my life I worked hard for my family so that they'd have better than I did. My wife and I skipped vacations and drove used cars to start a college fund for our sons. We cleaned our own house and cut our own grass. We could've cut corners, cheated here and there on our taxes, but we played by the rules instead. We cut coupons. If an unexpected cost came up we went without something else. We did things by the book even when it didn't seem fair.

"We would've liked three kids, but we settled for two. It took a while to save enough to have our first child. As the second one got to school age he needed surgery that our insurance only covered half of, so we took out a loan and never did feel like we could afford a third child."

"Now I've got grandkids I'd like to help send to college. It costs more every year. Already I've had to put some of
that money toward an emergency room visit for my wife. It didn't used to cost so much, but they say the illegals don't have medical insurance, so it drives up the cost for the rest of us.

Is It a Legal Protest If the Protesters are Illegal?
* Nick Danger posts here

There have been a series of protests over the proposed laws tightening the borders and making illegal immigrants and those who hire them felons. Thousands of possible lawbreakers are marching the streets daring the gov't to enforce the law and arrest them. And the gov't dared not.
Liberals and conservative politicians won't take a stand on illegal immigration out of fear of offending voters or donors, but for the law breakers to march by the thousands thumbing their nose at the people and the gov't does nothing? The phrase "taxation without representation" occurs to me.

There are thousands of illegals at these rallies, daring the gov't to arrest them! Send the INS or ICE or whoever to the freaking protests, start demanding ID and arresting the illegals. Are we that afraid of offending lawbreakers and their families? Is this what political correctness has brought us to as a nation?
Not only do illegal immigrants come here illegally, but they refuse to learn the language and assimilate, and now they say their illegal status is unacceptable. If a group of wanted US citizens and their supporters marched in protest of their fugitive status, would the gov't hesitate to come down on them? I doubt it.

I'm not sure we'll ever again have a President who is not a member of the CFR, or who is not controlled by their plans. (Bush is not a member actually, but Cheney is.)

And this is the CFR's plan to "integrate" this country with our neighbors.

The end of our sovereignty. And no elected official in a high enough office will be able to stop it. It's scary what's happening before our eyes.

The end of our sovereignty. And no elected official in a high enough office will be able to stop it. It's scary what's happening before our eyes.

The politician who takes hold of this problem (NOT Guest Worker) and brings back our nation's sovereignty by implementing the removal of illegal aliens from ALL social programs in this country (social security, disability, education, real estate, etc.) would garner the respect of a majority of American citizens IMHO. It appears we'll never be able to remove them all, but removing incentive can't hurt and would serve to strengthen our diminishing social security funds. Some say the illegals pay into it, but rest assured no one mentions the staggering amount they are taking out of it.

Terrorist 007 - Exposed

Snip: The postings ended after Scotland Yard arrested a 22-year-old West Londoner, Younis Tsouli, suspected of participating in an alleged bomb plot. In November, British authorities brought a range of charges against him related to that plot. Only later, according to our sources familiar with the British probe, was Tsouli's other suspected identity revealed. British investigators eventually confirmed to us that they believe he is Irhabi 007.

Plagued by fear

Snippets: Dr. Thomas Butler was the government's go-to guy if you were worried about a plague attack - and in the hair-trigger months after Sept. 11, 2001, a lot of federal officials were. For parts of three decades, he had treated the Black Death's bloated victims in the Third World. He'd plumbed the bacteria's dark secrets in university labs in Cleveland, and later in Lubbock, Texas, searching for better ways to blunt its lethal kiss. After Jan. 11, 2003, none of that mattered.

The bacteria's presence in the glass vials of Tom Butler's lab on Jan. 11, 2003, was a testament to Yersinia pestis' continued killing power, and to the government's fear that terrorists would harness it. That fear was about to ignite. Butler scanned his lab. Some of his plague vials were missing.

Muslim Jihadists setting up in Papua, New Guinea

Snip: MUSLIM extremists from The Philippines and elsewhere are claimed to be setting up bases in Papua with the blessing of elements of the Indonesian military.

Temple Mount closed to Jews due to Muslim threats

Snip: Israel's Police have announced that the Temple Mount, Judaism's holiest site, is now closed to Jews. The decision followed threats of Muslim violence leveled by Islamist Mufti of Jerusalem and other Arab leaders, who promised they would not allow rabbis to ascend the mount as planned Monday.

Muslim children taught how to cut off a head

Snip: Muslim children are taught how to cut off a head. Teens act it out with long sticks and head covers. It’s part of coming of age for Muslim youth. Muslim boys and girls are given human form toys by which to "play beheading." Therefore, when an actual beheading takes place, it is commonplace. Do free peoples think this is going to change? Not. Beheading has been a centuries old Muslim devilment. It is demanded by the cultic leaders known as "clerics."

Backstabbed in the USSR

Snip: No reasonable person can expect the UN Security Council to prevent Iran from building nuclear weapons; Russia and China will not allow it. The question is, just how far will Russia and China go to protect Iran and their economic interests?

US cracking down on foreign medicinal drugs

Snip: Thousands of Americans are being deprived of medication as consignments of prescription drugs, including some from India, are being seized by enforcement agencies who say they are not approved for consumption in the US and could be tainted or counterfeit.

Patients who ordered prescription drugs from Canada have received written notices saying their shipment has been seized as part of a government crackdown on cross-border pharmaceutical discount trade, the 'Boston Globe' reported.
