Threat Matrix: Daily Terror Threat - Thread Thirty-Five

Posted on 03/09/2006 10:08:04 PM PST by nwctwx

:::FreeRepublic's Threat Matrix:::
Unrest in Pakistan Setback for Terror War
(Full Story)

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan -- A week of unprecedented urban fighting in the wild tribal belt of North Waziristan has left scores dead and forced thousands to flee their homes, raising the stakes in Pakistan's war on Islamic militancy along the Afghan border.

A jumbled alliance of foreign militants, local tribesmen and Islamic students eager for jihad have stepped up resistance in a region where the army already claims to have wiped out al-Qaida as a viable fighting force.

The unrest, brewing for months, is a setback to the U.S.-led war on terror. Further hampering that effort are deteriorating relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan over Afghan claims that Taliban leader Mullah Omar is hiding in Pakistan and suicide bombers are training here.

Pakistan: President tells terrorists to leave

Only the foreign ones. What about the native Pakistani "militants"? "President tells terrorists to leave," from the TimesOnline, with thanks to Jihad Watch News Editor Rebecca Bynum:

President Musharraf of Pakistan, speaking in Lahore at a rally of about 80,000 people to mark the 100th anniversary of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League, ordered all foreign militants to leave the country. Tension between Pakistan and Afghanistan is mounting over allegations that President Musharraf is not doing enough to prevent Taleban and alQaeda forces from launching cross-border attacks from within Pakistan. “All foreign militants should leave Pakistan, otherwise they would be crushed,” the President said. “I will not tolerate the presence of these terrorists.”
...whereupon most of his government got up and walked out.

Superb summary! Thank you for your hard work compiling this excellent list.

Quite the contrast reading about Prince Charles proselytizing for the Muslims and further down reading about the British trial involving bombs, Islamic nuclear connections and the threat of a dirty bomb. Perhaps he needs to attend the trial so he can get a handle on what's going on within his realm.

Germany: Islamists threaten EU, Israel

Germany's intelligence chief said on Thursday that the success of Germany and other countries in hunting down terrorists has done little to reduce the threat "Islamic terrorism" poses to Europe and Israel.

In a rare public appearance, Ernst Uhrlau, head of Germany's BND foreign intelligence agency, said Europe had been transformed from an Islamist recruitment and financing centre into a target of Islamist extremism.

"KYRGYZSTAN MARKS FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF TULIP REVOLUTION"
By Erica Marat
Friday, March 24, 2006

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "A year has passed since March 24, 2005, Tulip Revolution in Kyrgyzstan, when crowds seized the main government building in Bishkek and President Askar Akayev fled the country. The popular euphoria over the ouster of the corrupt regime quickly changed to anxiety as tensions rose in the country. Virtually every week has been marked with showdowns between state officials, civil unrest, and political assassinations. The new government, led by President Kurmanbek Bakiyev and Prime Minister Felix Kulov, has been criticized for its chaotic cadre reshuffles and its inability to curb corruption or generate economic development.

The events of March 24, 2005, have multiple interpretations. They can be considered a victory for democracy, a mere rotation of political elites, a mass riot, or even a coup d'etat. The final judgment depends on the answers to four questions.

What has changed?"

TALIBAN MAN AT YALE
Monday, March 06, 2006 - FreeMarketNews.com

LINKED NEWS ANALYSIS

Are there no limits to how arrogant and out-of-touch America's Ivy League schools can get? Last week it emerged that Sayed Rahmatullah Hashemi, former deputy foreign secretary of the Taliban, is now a student at Yale while at the same time the school continues to block ROTC training from its campus and argues for the right of its law school to exclude military recruiters. King George's troops played the music to "The World Turned Upside Down" as they surrendered at Yorktown. Perhaps the Ivy League should adopt that tune as they surrender all vestiges of common sense.

"Will We Allow Illegal "Other Than Mexicans" to Remain as "Guest Workers?""

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "As I have noted previously, in the days and months after the attacks of September 11, 2001 many politicians stood before the microphones and cameras, seeking to get their sound-bites on the evening news, ranting about the failure of our government to "Connect the dots" that resulted in the attacks of 9/11. Here are the dots for all to see. Aliens are violating our sovereign borders (at least they are supposed to be sovereign borders). They are proving themselves to be highly skilled where gaming the system is concerned, while our government proves it is inept at carrying out the most simple tasks where our borders and the immigration bureaucracy are concerned. The GAO issued a report on March 10, concerning this issue highlighted just how great a problem this is. You can see a summary of that report at the House Judiciary Committee website."

ILLEGALS KILL MIN AND JACKSON. DEPORT ILLEGALS
By J. Grant Swank Jr. (03/09/2006)

Jorge Hernandez, aka Jorge Soto, killed Min Soon Chang, 18, college freshman. Jorge was driving drunk and plowed into another vehicle.

Jorge is an illegal alien. He had been arrested three times before for driving under the influence. That happened in three different states. He had been returned to Mexico 17 times.

Finally something seems to be done about these sorts of happenings attached to illegals. Rep. Sue Myrick is putting in a bill which would mandate immediate deportation of any drunk-driving illegal in the US.

"Russians Gave Saddam US War Plans; Mole in CentCom Suspected"
March 24, 2006
Jim Kouri
by Jim Kouri, CPP

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "The Pentagon firmly believes that the Russian government gave Iraq President Saddam Hussein United States strategic war plans for the invasion of Iraq.

The Fox News Channel is reporting that the Pentagon believes the Russians had a “mole” in CentCom (US military’s Central Command) who passed on secrets to the Russians who in turn passed on intelligence to Saddam’s regime.

Documents confiscated by US forces after the Iraq invasion revealed communications between Russian government officials and the Iraqi military high-command before the March 2003 invasion by coalition forces. According to the Pentagon, the communications included handwritten notes.

According to a Moscow journalist, documents from Saddam Hussein’s leadership released by the US government reveal that the Russian ambassador to Iraq disclosed the US war plans to Saddam and his commanders.

Two documents dated March 2003, on the eve of the US-led invasion described details of the US military strategic and tactical plans.

One of the documents is a handwritten account of a meeting between the Russian ambassador Vladimir Teterenko and Iraqi military and diplomatic officials. The document details his description of the composition, size, location and type of US military forces arrayed in the Gulf and Jordan.

The document also includes the deployment numbers of tanks, armored vehicles, different types of aircraft, missiles, helicopters, aircraft carriers, and other forces and also their exact locations. The ambassador also described the positions of two Special Forces units, according to ABC News.

The second document is a typed account, signed by Deputy Foreign Minister Hammam Abdel Khaleq, which states that Teterenko told the Iraqis that “the United States was planning to deploy its force into Iraq from Basra in the South and up the Euphrates, and would avoid entering major cities on the way to Baghdad,”

According to Pentagon, this is exactly what happened. The documents also state that “Americans are also planning on taking control of the oil fields in Kirkuk.” The information was obtained by the Russians from “sources at U.S. Central Command in Doha, Qatar,” according to the document.

This document also includes an account of an incident in which several Iraqi Army officers (presumably seeking further elaboration of the US war plans) contacted the Russian Embassy in Baghdad and stated that the ambassador was their source. This caused great embarrassment to Teterenko, and the officers were instructed “not to mention the ambassador again in that context.”

Teterenko is mentioned in documents released by the Volker Commission, which investigated the Oil for Food scandal, as receiving allocations of 3 million barrels of oil — worth roughly $1.5 million.

While the recently released documents are being analyzed by several news organizations and intelligence think-tanks, there exists a classified version of the Pentagon report, titled “Iraqi Perspectives Project,” which is not being released to the public."

No drivers license or insurance required if you have nothing to lose by maiming and killing with a vehicle if you are an illegal who isn't really here technically (they can retreat to Mexico as quickly as they got here). They only want what they believe is due them as long as it's beneficial to them. Obeying our laws is easy as long as the laws are unenforced or ignored.
