PRINCETON, New Jersey, March 9, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) Over half of Americas teenagers believe homosexuality comes from a persons environment and upbringing, and is not something a person is born with, according to a new Gallup Youth survey.
The poll looked at the responses from 546 teenagers, ages 13-17. When asked if being gay is due to outside factors, such as up bringing and environment, or if it is something a person is born with, 59 percent of teenagers said homosexuality comes from outside factors. Just 41 percent said they think people are born gay. On this question, girls scored slightly higher than boys.
The survey shows American teenagers are essentially split on the question of support for gay marriage and same-sex unions. On the question of gay marriage, 51 percent approve of gay marriage and 49 percent disapprove. The results show that boys and girls gave very similar responses, with girls slightly (four percentage points) more in favour than boys.
Teenagers responded slightly higher in favour of same-sex unions, with 55 percent saying they approved. Again, girls were more in favour than boys.
In a nationwide poll of adults conducted in May 2004, adults were somewhat less likely to be in favour of gay civil unions. 49% were in favour, while 48% were opposed.
When asked if homosexuality is something a person is born with, or the result of outside factors, 44% of adults polled in May 2005 said homosexuality is due to outside factors. 38% said it was present at birth, and the rest said it was both, or expressed no opinion.
The survey is considered accurate to within ±4 percentage points, 95% of the time.
Ping!
Memo From Satan: To: MSM - You idiots must work harder!
I bet the NEA is saddened. They'll get those state/fed exams "fixed"* here pretty soon.
Everybody used to know this stuff.
News: Six out of ten teenagers probably also can't name seven countries in Africa or even find their state on a globe. Last year a survey showed 11% couldn't find the USA on a world map.
Not taking a position, but the premise of the poll is bunk.
Didn't I read NAMBLA's motto: "Get 'em before eight, or it's too late"!
If it's genetic, why get 'em young? Before they know enough to fight them...
Teenagers?
American teenagers?
Can anyone name a less trustworthy source for any information (except hair gel and pimple cream)?
We'll have to fwd this info to the Nation's educators so that they can properly adjust their propaganda/indoctrination campaigns.
Lol.. I know gay people who don't think it's genetic. They don't know what caused them to be gay, and they don't really care.
There's that old saying about the San Francisco lifestyle...."They're not born that way....they just get sucked into it"
More indoctrination is required.
They know better than most with all the HS recruiting campaigns by GLSEN. If it were genetic they wouldn't be recruiting.
I agree with these teenagers and that why I'm so sick of the NEA pushing it as 'normal'. . .I wonder how many kids have aids which would not have if the teachers hadn't promoted being 'gay' as being cool? Stupid is what it is and asking for a fatal disease! Thank you, teachers' union. Ain't politically correctness a great thing?
Actually, teens support civil unions and gay marriage by small margins. In minds of the gay gestapo, mission accomplished. They perverted the minds of the next generation of voters.
That... rubs raw...
Six out of Ten? That's very concerning...it should be 1 out of 100,000. That's the way it was back in the 50's and early 60's.
Now, that we have become sensitive, diverse and tolerant new-age people, 6 out of 10 is supposed to be a good number? Within the next few years it will be 3 out of 10 and that will be considered an excellent number.
