They'll say "... We were acting on good faith to protect Americans, those Republicans were being racist."
And they'd be right, even if they don't admit it they are ALL being racists.
Nobody says that the fact they are 'arabs' shouldn't warrant extra scrutiny (as it did and special concessions made by them even) during the approval process. The problem is when NOTHING, NO MATTER WHAT (like our relationship is with the UAE, the difference between port and terminal, history with the UAE, etc) will trump the "A-Rab" card.
Thats what I've seen from disgusting pukes like King and sanctimonious cynical jerks like Hunter these past few days.
I know they are smart, and I agree with MANY of their views in the past... I've just lost nearly all respect I have for the whole lot of them because EVEN IF they are 'smart enough' to learn exactly what is going on, they are still willing to sell it all out for (what they think are) political points by playing to (at least subconscious) 'racists' who 'dont want to take a chance' with in 'a-rab' "running a port" that have been misinformed and goaded from the start by the MSM.

Well I don't understand a lot of things thats for sure.
The older I get the more I realize how much I really do not know.
However, to compensate for that lack of knowledge I have developed a set of standards to guide me through the maze of BS that fills this hateful liberal rudderless world we currently live in.
All I have heard this afternoon on television from both the Rats and RHINO's is nitpicking over the carcass of the former ports deal.
The liberals are licking their lips thinking the Republicans have been done in.
One thing I have gleaned out of Hellary, Reid and Chuckie's finger pointing is that they will never get, IT.
Bill got IT but the liberals never will get IT.
I don't think any person with an ounce of brains can really rely on the Rats for any assurance of security.
All of the terrorism scare we are suffering through right now was put together under the auspices of Bill and Hellary Clinton.
The Rats had an opportunity to nip all this in the bud in the early nineties and as usual dropped the ball big time.
Another words, you just can not trust the Dims with your personal safety.
Well you can but lots of accident and death insurance would be the order of the day.

The Navy isn't portside in UAE on a diplomatic mission. They're portside there because it is sufficiently secure.

According to Brit Hume, Dubai Ports World now owns the terminal contract and has said they will sell their interest to an American entity. Since Dubai outbid all others for the business, I take that to mean that no American company could finance the deal and therefore the American taxpayer will now be subsidizing some USA company to take over. This was not the finest hour for Republicans in either house. For both Republicans and RATS to be consistent, there must now be a full review of all terminal contracts involving foreign involvement and American ownership forced through on the same basis as objections to the Dubai deal. Being a realist, I will not hold my breath for such to happen.

Not only with the UAE, but how many 'unnamed arabs' in countries that MIGHT have hard decicions to make in the future.
Something like deciding to throw in with a (freshly nuke enabled) Iran, or to embrace the west. To see how STACKED the deck is against you to start... that might influence a revolution.
But no... I'm sure we've made the right decision here, we've taken the time and thought about it. Weighted the pros and cons, had endless debate and the media has informed a majroity of the public. What can go wrong?

Well I trust the military's judgment on that far more than airchair wannabe Generals. Sorry. No sale. So tell me then how many years did you do in the Navy? Did it ever occur to you I said this based on what I've seen? Ever been on a carrier that did and emergency sea and anchor detail to get under way? I have and I know what I'm talking about. Dubrovnik, Yugoslavia late 1977 we anchored off shore. A violent straight line wind hit the ship. Within a very few short minutes were changed from dragging anchor and heading toward a grounding to underway and out of port. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. There are too many mistakes being made and some of it is being caused by blatant arrogance out of the Pentagon.

This is one of the two words I added to my vocabulary on this last one "round." "Xenophobic," and "Hysteria." Two good words, I hope I can use them with my friends :)

Haliburton is one of the few American companies that can run the logistics of a terminal.Wouldn't that be too funny if Haliburton ended up with the deal? The thought of it makes me laugh.

I am really enjoying watching this all play out. Last night it seemed as if this could be a defining moment in Bush's Presidency with his willingness to use the veto power for once.
Thanks to Jerry Lewis, this situation has taken a 180 degree turn and the President is essentially off the hook. The fact that the Dubai based company was willing to cede ground helped as well, leaving the Dems steaming mad.
I can't believe those goofballs didn't think of it first. That is how the Dims were able to hide the Barrett Report as they attached it to something else at the last minute.
Touche Chucky Schmucky!

Wouldn't that be too funny if Haliburton ended up with the deal? The thought of it makes me laugh. Yep and the DEM's would be laughing at the GOP if that happens all the way into both houses and the Oval Office. Not everything that is good for W and Cheney's buddies is good for the party nor for that matter our nation as a whole. I wouldn't laugh as that one would likely backfire big time against the GOP.

I'd point out the utter ridiculousness of your reply, but it looks like a ton of Freepers beat me to it.
After reading your reply, I almost abandoned FR on the basis that there is no more intelligence here.
All the replies you received kept me grounded.
