House Appropiations Committe voted to block Dubai deal
I am sooooo trying to catch up, and may not...
'From the article, "One of the most vulnerable situations facing America is our ports of entry," said Rep. Bill Young, R-Fla., chairman of the House defense appropriations subcommittee. "Whoevers responsible for those ports of entry should be American."'
I would like to point out that this is a very unintelligent statement considering who's actually 'responsible' for these ports at present.
Thank you.
Thank you.
That was good enough to make me want to go get the cowboy hat out and kick some a$$ ; )
Thanks, Cboldt.
I've gotten into the habit of looking in the opposite direction when Dems start screaming at something, so this really caught my attention. It's a real long shot, but I am wondering if they've caught on to the rope a dope concept with this ports deal...and used it to turn our heads to the 'national security' direction (they only ever use it to further their own purposes, otherwise they do nothing) while effing us in another. I would love to be a fly on the wall in the Dole living room.
"Three men associated with the Port of Miami, including its ousted former director, were charged Wednesday with stealing $1.3 million and using the money on Super Bowl tickets, lingerie and bar tabs.
They also are accused of using stolen funds to donate $120,000 to the Democratic National Committee in 1994."
Doing the math, that most have been some humongous lingerie and supersized drinks.
If you dig further into this, I hope you'll remember to ping me. (I'm STILL not finished reading THIS thread : )
No, absolutely not it did not scare me or bother me that the Brits were operating the terminals. The Brits recognize Isreal as a state, and have less ties to terrorists. And even though Saudi and China currently operate terminals, I believe we are now in a different mindset-post 9/11. Each deal and operator/port should be reevaluated.
"Did it scare you when the brits paid to operate terminals?"
UBL isn't running AQ now.
"You forgot to add your beloved Coast Guard to the IN FAVOR list. "
NOTE : The following post does not apply to
those FReepers who are
1) Active Duty
2) Those with disabilities
3) Care givers of those with disabilities
4) Those with financial hardships
5) Those who actually support our troops in other ways.
We don't need Arab help for anything.
From the history I studied as well as my time on active duty, seems we had to band together to defeat the Axis powers. Even made bed with the Soviet Union and Muslims to defeat Hitler.
If you wish it to end up like Nam again, let's destroy what little cooperation we have and assume our arrogance will carry the battle.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
The Phillipines, Cuba, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, Japan, Germany, Nicaragua, Haiti, ad nauseam.
Ad nauseam, ad nauseam??
Ever heard of WW2?
Japan, Germany
Ever hear that we are allies of England?
Grenada
Ever hear we support freedom?
Cuba, Panama, the Dominican Republic,Haiti
Ever hear that we have a duty to protect OUR national interest and security?
I was disputing the contention that we only send troops overseas when that a nation requests it, and that the interests of other countries supersede our own strategic interests.
My point was that we didn't withdraw from Saudi Arabia simply because the Saudis wanted us to leave.
That being said, I think that the majority of American interventions abroad, under the Monroe Doctrine and outside of the Western Hemisphere have been done with the intention of making things better, bringing stability, or introducing civil society, etc., even if not every one has turned out successfully.
