Not even one ... not one Pubbie with any spine, not even one with a shred of conscience who'll refuse to be cowed by the backroom deals or career plans. Not even one who'll give just a speck of respect to his President .. who'll abandon re-election thoughts temporarily to at least give this another review because the President is obviously so convinced and has intelligence he hasn't.... not one. The parties have finally morphed .. I'm utterly nauseous.

However, UAE paying billions to "just watch" or "sit on the sidelines" scares me. Did it scare you when the brits paid to operate terminals?

And who exactly in Saudi Arabia forced us out? The government simply told us to leave and we left because Saudi Arabia is not our land and if we would have stayed we would have been occupiers. The same will happen in UAE they will simply tell us to leave and we will leave because we are not an occupying force and we have zero legal right to stay.
Do you think we go around the world and occupy other nations ports and bases against their will? I think you live in a different America than I do if you believe so.

Who is giving you these numbers? Ok, Nappy, let me rewrite it so you can address the point.
Suppose Bush unveils a border wall tomorrow that only costs FIVE DOLLARS. Conservatives everywhere rejoice. The economy suffers a jolt from the disconnect, but eventually, a protectionist nirvana takes hold. The USA is a shining city on a hill. A "lily white" licensed pilot a la McVey crashes a plane into the Whitehouse the day after, because he made a deal with Midle East terrorists. The following day, OBL puts out a video to the triumphal cheers of terrorists everywhere: "America's walls cannot hold out Allah's will!" Al Queada's ranks swell.

" Conservatives don't mess with defense bills. If they had the votes to kill the deal then do it on it's own sheet of paper."

"If the ports deal needed to be killed use a separate sheet of paper. DON'T MESS WITH MILITARY MONEY!" Agreed. I don't want UAE anywhere near our ports, but this was a bad move. Would also have like to seen a full 45-day investigation to more fully address actual port-security issue.

We've all come to expect such a dirty political tricks from the Democrats but it's really disturbing when it comes from our own party and then some fellow party members praise this stunt. Just wait and see, some of these "Republicans" that support this kind of politics will turn around and slam the Democrats for pulling the same thing. They're nothing but hypocrites.

I respect anyone who has made a decision, either which way, but these politicians (Republicans) that are playing this game with our troops money do not belong in office. I don't criticize the Rats for it because I've just come to expect this type of stunt out of them.

If you don't see anything wrong with playing politics with our our troops money then you have a serious problem. If you want to kill the deal then use a separate sheet of paper otherwise go "whatever" elsewhere.

They dont allow our military to use their ports because theyre our bestest buddies or because they want to unload container ships in New Jersey. They let our military use their ports because our very presence there helps provide some level of stability in an very unstable part of the world. This stability, in turn, allows the Royal family to make oceans of money in their banking and tourism industries. We've come full circle.
The UAE royals are now said to want "stability" so they can make money.
(Never mind last week they were considered too unstable to manage a few terminals)
