President Bush, in his first visit to New Orleans since two reports criticized the government's response to Hurricane Katrina, today urged Congress to approve a $4.2 billion initiative to help Louisiana residents who lost their homes in the Aug. 29 storm.
Speaking in front of a broken levee in New Orleans' hardest-hit Lower Ninth Ward, Bush spoke of a plan that would make as much as $150,000 available to each homeowner.

Good God, is there no end to this insanity? How much money should we spend to return welfare-dependent people to a below-sea-level area?
Can you imagine the possibilities for graft, fraud and theft?

How much money should we spend to return welfare-dependent people to a below-sea-level area? President Bush is a Texan . . . wouldn't you want to get those people out of Texas and back into Louisiana if you were him? lol
To: Mogengator
I have no idea why the President keeps going to New Orleans and bringing wheelbarrow loads of cash. It's as if the media and what the democrats have said is making him feel guilty.
He's been there fourteen times since the hurricane!

Ten, but who's counting. I had heard on Fox that it was to be his fourteenth, but I see now your number of ten is the correct one. Now, I feel better. LOL

"a $4.2 billion initiative"
We've had all the "initiatives" we can afford, Mr. President. You're bankrupting us. Keep your hands off the spending handle for a while, take a deep breath, and do us a favor by not making any more "pledges" or "initiatives".

I totally agree that we should not spend ANY money to return the welfare-dependent to their low-lying subsidized housing. However, the Port of New Orleans is of such economic importance that parts of NOLA must be rebuilt (on areas that are not below sea level) to support the community of port-related workers.
President Bush should make a clear distinction between aid for true economic redevelopment and continued welfare benefits for those who are unwilling to contribute to society.
To: JustaDumbBlonde
He did. This is for "home owners".

How about helping the Homeowners in Mississippi and Alabama. They got wiped out too. Damn!! Stop going to New Orleans and sucking up to Nagion and try visiting the other states that got hit. Missisippi and Alabama deserve as much money as Louissianna just because they arent squealing like raped apes doesnt mean they should be ignored.
To: Mogengator
LOL....so the congress stabs him in the back on the Port deal and he gives them a little payback!
Strategery 101.

As a thank you for this spending, ABC radio is running a news story that includes something like this: "criticized last week after the release of videos showing the President was aware of possible levee failures"

WABC radio is the worst of the worst if possible.
They are a wholly owned subsidiary of the DNC.
