Police are questioning a southeast Houston man who fatally shot a suspected robber early Tuesday during an apparent home invasion.
The homeowner, who was not injured, found two armed men dressed in black about 3:30 a.m. after pulling into the garage of the house in the 9500 block of Almeda Pines.
The accused robbers forced open the back door and began shooting at the homeowner in the living room. He returned fire, police said, fatally striking one of the men who collapsed and died in the back yard.
The other man fled the scene. Police said the homeowner is licensed to carry a concealed weapon.
Mark Twain got a dressing-down from an editor early on for not writing "alleged" &c in describing some circumstances which were manifestly obvious and true.
Twain then volunteered to write the Society Column the next week. Respecting the paper's policy to the letter, he qualified everything that he had not personally witnessed or discovered. The column had gem after gem like "the woman, who claims to be the wife of Mr. Smith", etc.
Just called and scheduled some time. I'll try out my Valentine's present - ammo.
The story's unclear, but he might have needed the permit because he might have been carrying his car gun into the house when he ran into them in his living room.
To quote a WW2 vet,"Every shot that misses the target is useless fieworks"
I wouldn't want that vermin over my fireplace -- although I agree with the basic sediment of your idea! Put his head on a pole and use it as a "neighborhood watch" sign.
That's not too far from the Astrodome where the annual rodeo is being held.
I'll have to show this to the wife. Everytime I come across what is essentially a home invasion, I make a copy for her. You see, she thinks that I'm foolish because I keep a handgun within arm's reach when I'm reading, on the computer or watching TV. I tell her that if someone busts in, you're not going to have the time to locate your gun, it had better be right there for you.
The crime rate in Housgton skyrocketed after tje "refugees" from NOLA arrived. What does this tell us?
Don't you just love the expression "home invasion"" It's a politically correct way to describe house robbery.
Breaking and entering in some part of the country is becomming downright dangerous. This homeowner performed a public service by making it more so.
I've eaten some ham sandwhiches that should have been indicted.......
Hah! me too. Though I am very discrete about it. I love my double action/single action HK. I can chamber a round and decock it so its ready to rock double action, but safe.
For those who may ask, no we obviously don't have children.
You can carry in your car with out a CCW in Texas.
Mr. Mossberg stays right by the bedside next to the flashlight and the cell phone.
We have a child, hence locking them up at night. I have been known to go to the gunsafe late at night and comfort them.

In my case, it's "Mr. Remington" and he's always reachable in a matter of seconds. The handguns are nice but they're just for use as I fight my way to the shotgun.
And, no, they're no children in the house for those who worry about such things.
The bad guys just keep on getting crazier all the time.
A great reason for the right to own and use a firearm.
Learn to wear it every where, then its always there.
Heck I dont cut the lawn without a pistol L0L
cool magnet trick!
Thanks for the tips.
Your suggestion makes a great deal of sense. Somehow I'll have to get a better holster than I have; the one I have is designed for concealed carry and it places the gun a little too close for comfort.
