NEWFANE, Vt. (AP) -- A small town is urging Vermont's only U.S. congressman to file articles of impeachment against President Bush.
Voters gathered for Newfane's annual town meeting on Tuesday to conduct routine business and vote on the impeachment call. It passed 121-to-29.
The impeachment item says Bush misled the nation into the Iraq war and engaged in illegal domestic spying.
A justice of the peace says that the town is run by what he calls the "far-left."
But a local teacher says she can't tell students "that what happens on the national level doesn't affect us at the local level."
Congressman Bernie Sanders issued a statement that says Bush "has been a disaster for our country" and may have broken the law. But he says Republicans control Congress and "it would be impractical to talk about impeachment."
Yes it is, to the point where I am starting to avoid being around some of them, which is why I should move , I guess.
[Any one need an ESL teacher with 8 years of experience in Texas?]
You know what I mean since you are from Maine.
As a registered Republican entering the Town Hall to vote , they all move out of the way, and none of them will look me in the eye.
Most of them are 1st and 2nd generation out of staters. In the early 70s to early 80 s land was real cheap here. It caused an influx of back to the land hippies and yippies. many stayed. Then the wealthy liberal aristocrats began colonizing the state. A few ski bums end up staying here. The native Vermonters are mostly true red neck Pubbies. About 1/3 of the state voted for Bush in the last election.

You people have this all wrong--they're a bunch of stealth conservatives who want to make Cheney President. ;)
They sure are under DEEP COVER!!!
I can. It's called "genetic inbreeding".
Interesting. I plan to visit there this summer. I read a tourist guide firm from this great Bike touring company up there. Its sounds nice. I have to visit your conservative enclave of the state.
We call it the "Northeast Kingdom" . You can use that as a search term to find out where God's country is here.
There are mountain trails and flat trails. Also a lot of trails where the railroads used to run. Real pretty area.
Looks like this town has decided it would be a suitible replacement.
No need to inform them of what's coming either.
Cool. You know in history class I remember a little known factoid. It seems that there was some border dispute after we got Independence. Evid some sort of Free Vermont Republic was established. Washington at one time thought he would have send in troops to supress it. Was that in your area
I am one of those Green Mountain Boys now!
Heres the story:

Well, if you leave, Vermont will lose a conservative voice and Lord knows it could use as many as possible.
VT . . . who cares? Is that even a state anymore? I thought we gave that to the hippies and other vietkong.
Politically Vermont is a little similar to the politics of Tasmania within the Australian national politics. Like Vermont, Tassie also elects loony Left into representatives, and it is also "clean, green, open", but slow in economic growth with no real meeningful economic prospects apart from tourism from other parts of the country.
BTW, in New Zealand even many non-leftists (chiefly libertarian types) think Howard Dean is "moderate". It gives you a pause to think how left NZ is.
I think you'll find Tasmania is pretty conservative compared with Vermont. Until a few years ago, homosexuality was a criminal offence in Tasmania. I know they elected Bob Brown to the Senate but for years they also returned the very conservative Senator Harradine. Brown has become irrelevant in Australian politics. The Democrats also represented the Australian left and they are now almost an extinct species.
Leave my country you twits. Have Canada defend you.
I think it's a whole state full of idiots.
