Meet Randy Brinson, the advance guard of evangelicals leaving the GOP.
-snip-
The newly converted are the most zealous, sharing the good news with gusto to any and all comers. Every few days, Randy Brinson calls me with another revelation. Republicans? The power structure in the Republican Party is too entrenched with big business. It's not with evangelicalsthey're a means to an end. The Christian Right? They just want to keep the culture war going because it raises a lot of money for them. Abramoff? Evangelicals were being used as pawns to promote a big money agenda. His fellow evangelicals? Can't they see that Republicans are just pandering to them?? He once was blind, but now he sees.

Lol. As yet another Democrat rag tries to drive the wedge...
The better win in 06, or their heads might really explode.
A Seminar Evangelical?
It's always cute when lefties try to pretend to care about religious types . . .
More likely that the Dems' black base will jump ship than it is that significant numbers of evangelicals will join the Dems.
For the party of gay marriage and partial-birth abortion?
Sounds like b.s. to me.
Amy Sullivan? Is that Andrew Sullivan during Drag Night at the Shartruse Moose?
Somehow I don't think a class that is being promoted by People for the American Way and the ACLU is very favorable to Christians.
According to AgapePress, Christian author Berit Kjos contends that the project's purpose is "not to teach people about the Bible or to make students biblically literate." She says its objective is to train people "to set aside ... the 'certainties' that keep them from embracing all other religions as being equal."
Hmm... almost as bad.
It is just a bunch of unitarianism nonsense being sold a biblical teachings. Typical liberal tactic to label something the opposite of what its true intent is.
He simply blinded them to Himself...they were not able to distinguish him and lost him in the crowd...
He and his apostles slipped right out from their midst...
Just as today...many people do still do not see Him for who He truly is...and fail to recognize him...and He slips away from them...
The problem with the Democrats is that their message boils down to "vote for us because we want to win."
One interesting thing about Democratic Underground (and similar sites) is how much of the discussion is on ways to win. There's not much civil discussion on the best solution to the problem of Iraq or how to help poor people. They spend a lot of time talking about how to frame the issues and sharing ideas for good slogans. If they want to win elections, they need to explain exactly what they plan to do and why it's a good idea to do things that way.
All this is organized and funded by leftist foundations.

..unfortunate title...
Obviously, she doesn't differentiate between Republicans and Conservatives.
I'm not as optimistic as the author about "progressives" genuinely opening up to religious conscerns, but I do think the author, or rather the evangelicals in the piece, makes some good points.
Religious belief does not mirror the Republican Party platform. It's clear that many republicans have used believers, which I don't like, for their own ends. I am not an evangelical (catholic), although I appreciate and respect their energy and commitment; and I'm happy to see their faith leading them to righteous causes such as poverty and the environment. I disagree with the left's statements and actions about many of these issues, which is why I've voted Republican, but because I think the left is nuts on many of those issues, doesn't mean I am not conscerned about poverty and the environment-- or that I agree with the Republicans on all of those issues.
LOL.
