Jerusalem, March 6: Against the backdrop of the recent Indo-US nuclear deal, the Israeli defence industry has expressed concern that the United States' tightening security ties with India will adversely affect their prospects in one of their key markets.
"The Americans understood Israel is taking a huge market away from them. It took them time to respond, but they eventually did," a source at Israel's defence industries told local daily 'Yediot Ahronoth'.
"From now on it will be much harder to carry out arms deals in India," the source added. "The US plans on turning India into one of its arms industries' main export markets following the recent nuclear deal between the two countries during President Bush's visit to India," the report said.
India had emerged as the single largest purchaser of Israeli defence systems capping the Phalcon deal worth $1 billion.
Agreed....I have no love lost for the Islamists. However, the Islamists are receiving tremendous support from the ChiComs. IMHO, future alliances will be between democracies and Islamists/ChiComs.
So would you support the integration of Taiwan into the mainland PRC even as it remains Communist?
The people who are fuming more about the US making weapons deals with the Indians are the Russians. Our plan is to cut the Russians off from the Indian weapons market, and for good reason... We want India on our side, not in the pocket of Russia and China.
Israel is more than welcome to keep it's weapons contracts with India, I would even encourage it.
The terrorists are not receiving anything from China. And China has never been an aggressive militaristic nation. Generally it has been the attacked rather than the attacker.
Israel is also selling advanced weapons to the Russians.
Is that why the Israelis sell high tech weapon components to the Russians??? The same ones that are now in Iranian air defenses.
Is that so? Very interesting bit of info.
The short answer is yes. It has nothing to do with admiring the US. It is a matter of political expediency. For a number of reasons, there is no desire to embarrass Israel over this incident. The cover-up began almost immediately. The firsthand accounts of the USS Liberty survivors plus the comments from US officials including the Secretary of State and the head of the CIA make it painfully obvious that this was a deliberate attack.
As retired USG employee with over 36 years of service, there are plenty of things that are withheld from the American public, including information that is kept quiet for reasons of diplomacy and political pressure.
I respect your opinion, justshutupandtakeit, but I disagree on this issue (re: the Sino-Islamist connections). :)
Speaking of Islamic relationship -- India still supports Iran, doesn't it? Due to energy needs, India is still wanting Iranians to build a pipeline to India, so while you're all bashing China for its relationship with Iran, India is doing the exact same thing.
Again, India is playing both sides with the US on the Iranian issue, like it has been in the 1960's and 1970's during the Cold War, during which time this "democracy" has been up and against all the other democracies around the around, including the U.S. It claims to stay neutral but in the end, it sided with the Soviets.
Besides, your claim that India has not proliferated -- well, that's because they don't have anything in th epast to proliferate. :) They do now.
Don't forget the Lusitania, and the Titantic
I was referring to the deal that Israel had decided to resume its weapons sale to China, literally right after Bush announced nuclear agreement with India.
Pretty soon, you'll hear EU again would lift its embargo against China. Why? If the US is willing to give nuke technology and assistance (which by the way, it just frees up Indian resources to develope nukes and they haven't signed the NPT), then it will be a sign to the rest of the world that US is ignoring the NPT, and hence, why should EU not sell to whichever country they want to sell to?
So my prediction for the nuclear deal is that it will eventaully led to the EU lifting arms embargo toward China. Israelis have done it, EU is next.
India has had a nuke program since early 60s. Looks like the comissionars forgot to include that in your talking points. Nice try though; doesn't work however.
Ever heard of the recent spate of agreements with the Saudis, Syrians, and the Venezuelans? Nobody in their right minds in going to believe your pro-ChiCom statements simply because all of you use the same talking points.
Forget that professor, pganini. Looks like his one statement colored your thoughts.
Most of the new Russian and Chinese missile technology is based off of Israeli designs.
Thunder: pganini is a ChiCom apologist. Just take a look at his posting history and his lies on this post starting with his first post on page 1 of this thread. ;)
pganini reminds me of jb6 and x5452, who are Russian apoligists. Maby they should make an alliance with each other.
More lies...the Israelis have been selling weapons to the ChiComs for years now (as several have pointed out on this thread). The recent deal has nothing to do with either the US or India.
Yet, you ignore the facts and keep repeating the same thing (a definite sign of re-education). Shows us where your loyalties lie...what are you, a "military attache" with the PRC?
LOL...agreed. Their nations are getting all friendly with each other too.
