TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- A mock war-crimes trial of President Bush at a Parsippany high school continued Friday, despite criticism from people across the nation who heard about the classroom exercise from a prominent Web site and talk-radio programs.
James Dwyer, Parsippany-Troy Hills School District interim superintendent, said the mock hearing in the 12th-grade politics and government class would continue, but a verdict by a five-teacher "international court of justice" panel would not be rendered as originally planned.
After a two-hour meeting with the school board president, the high school principal and a curriculum superintendent, Mr. Dwyer said Friday that the project was in keeping with the district's curriculum and had received prior administrative approval.
The class is an advanced-placement elective, he said, and the lesson explores current events and foreign policy in an interactive way.
"The focus is on the process itself, not on any outcome," Mr. Dwyer said.
Phone messages left at Parsippany High School for the course's instructor, Joseph Kyle, were not returned. Mr. Dwyer said Mr. Kyle has taught with the district for eight years.
Mr. Dwyer said he and the school's principal have received more than two dozen e-mails and phone calls about the course since the Drudge Report Web site posted a link to a newspaper article about the class. Talk-radio programs also apparently have discussed the course, Mr. Dwyer said, and listeners contacting the district were 10-1 against allowing the mock hearing.
But students involved in the project, which began Monday after several weeks of research, said the decision to hold a mock trial over Mr. Bush's purported "crimes against civilian populations" and "inhumane treatment of prisoners" had been agreed upon by all 27 classmates.

Modern 'education', perhaps?
My daughter is good friends with a kid from that town -- they talk on the phone a couple times a week -- so I'll see if he knows anything about the school and/or teacher.
I reckon you'll be able to confirm our suspicions quickly enough...
What's really needed here is a stupidity trial for the overpaid moron(s) who came up with this idea
Looks like our public schools have no reluctance now against using immature teenagers to foment revolution. I have not noticed such disrespect for the Office of the President in my lifetime and that is a long time. The intolerance for the election of our officials comes mostly from the left. And, most of those on the left have hardly suffered a day in their lives for any reason, much less to secure freedom and democracy for anyone. They want to destroy our system like termites destroy a home. Did any of you see on Bill O'Riley this week, the report on that crazed, young, long-haired professor who was spewing vile hatred against American in the classroom and was dismissed for it? His lawyer was on defending his right to use our public education system to further his hatred of America.
So they're going to go on with the trial but the conviction which was already decided on will not be published. I guess there is a limit to how silly they really want to look. This is good for the kids they can see what a Kangaroo court looks like without going to the Hague.
It would seem 5 teachers would have something better to do than hanging President Bush in effigy.
"The focus is on the process itself, not on any outcome,"
Well that's what people are ticked about because the teachers are trying to indicate there is a need for the "process" which there's not.
But if the verdict is "guilty" the 'Rats and MSM will jump all over it. If the verdict is "not guilty" we won't hear a peep.
Ought to be very interesting to see what the inmates propose next.
Weasel words coming from a school administrator? How shocking! NOT
My choice of Haagen Daz over Ben and Jerry's is reaffirmed on a daily basis.
Let the stupidassed idiots do these things because it will do nothing but destroy their hold on America.
For goodness sakes let the idiots who hate Bush ramble because there's NOTHING we could do more effectively to take them out of power!
Gee I don't rememeber putting JFK on trial for War Crimes for his Bay of Pigs invasion???????
