Bush on 'trial' for 'war crimes'
Washington Times ^ | 5 March 2006

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- A mock war-crimes trial of President Bush at a Parsippany high school continued Friday, despite criticism from people across the nation who heard about the classroom exercise from a prominent Web site and talk-radio programs.

James Dwyer, Parsippany-Troy Hills School District interim superintendent, said the mock hearing in the 12th-grade politics and government class would continue, but a verdict by a five-teacher "international court of justice" panel would not be rendered as originally planned.

After a two-hour meeting with the school board president, the high school principal and a curriculum superintendent, Mr. Dwyer said Friday that the project was in keeping with the district's curriculum and had received prior administrative approval.

The class is an advanced-placement elective, he said, and the lesson explores current events and foreign policy in an interactive way.

"The focus is on the process itself, not on any outcome," Mr. Dwyer said.

Phone messages left at Parsippany High School for the course's instructor, Joseph Kyle, were not returned. Mr. Dwyer said Mr. Kyle has taught with the district for eight years.

Mr. Dwyer said he and the school's principal have received more than two dozen e-mails and phone calls about the course since the Drudge Report Web site posted a link to a newspaper article about the class. Talk-radio programs also apparently have discussed the course, Mr. Dwyer said, and listeners contacting the district were 10-1 against allowing the mock hearing.

But students involved in the project, which began Monday after several weeks of research, said the decision to hold a mock trial over Mr. Bush's purported "crimes against civilian populations" and "inhumane treatment of prisoners" had been agreed upon by all 27 classmates.

What sort of ratbaggery is this?

Modern 'education', perhaps?

My daughter is good friends with a kid from that town -- they talk on the phone a couple times a week -- so I'll see if he knows anything about the school and/or teacher.

Teaching more about the "virtues" of UN internationalism, rather then the liberties guaranteed by America's sacred documents...

Looks like our public schools have no reluctance now against using immature teenagers to foment revolution. I have not noticed such disrespect for the Office of the President in my lifetime and that is a long time. The intolerance for the election of our officials comes mostly from the left. And, most of those on the left have hardly suffered a day in their lives for any reason, much less to secure freedom and democracy for anyone. They want to destroy our system like termites destroy a home. Did any of you see on Bill O'Riley this week, the report on that crazed, young, long-haired professor who was spewing vile hatred against American in the classroom and was dismissed for it? His lawyer was on defending his right to use our public education system to further his hatred of America.

How about a trial for US educators-administrators and teachers. I charge:

Allowing our schools to be turned into social engineering centers;
Protected poor teaching making our student less competitive globally;
Teaching political nonsense instead of the basics;
Teachers' unions in control of the Democratic Party.

We will have a panel of American parents render a final judgment.

So they're going to go on with the trial but the conviction which was already decided on will not be published. I guess there is a limit to how silly they really want to look. This is good for the kids they can see what a Kangaroo court looks like without going to the Hague.

It would seem 5 teachers would have something better to do than hanging President Bush in effigy.

I knew internationalism was getting real bad when I saw a banner hanging in a Ben&Jerry's ice cream shop back in the early 1990's

All kinds of stuff like anti-gun, pro-UN, tree hugger, and learn a language...like Swahili! That and eat B&J ice cream! Never again (never really a big fan) did I eat that crap!

"The focus is on the process itself, not on any outcome,"

Well that's what people are ticked about because the teachers are trying to indicate there is a need for the "process" which there's not.

I wonder if the would allow a MOCK trial about a principal who is a queer, pedophile, crack smoking, arch conservative( most likely the cruelest insult - lol) high school principal.

The teacher who persuaded the kids to have this "trial" was interviewed on a local Philadelphia talk radio show last Thursday evening. I couldn't help but notice the lisp he spoke with. Call it homophonicths.

Right. The conviction will be LEAKED, to demonstrate to the students how to disregard any laws or conventions on securing classified information if they believe the public "has a right to know", First Amendment, and all that.

I guarantee you that SOMEbody will spill the results of this bogus "trial", and of course the result will be that Bush was "convicted".

Bet the rent.

"The focus is on the process itself, not on any outcome," Mr. Dwyer said.

But if the verdict is "guilty" the 'Rats and MSM will jump all over it. If the verdict is "not guilty" we won't hear a peep.

LOL...so now the administration allows the students to make decisions about class content.

Ought to be very interesting to see what the inmates propose next.

Weasel words coming from a school administrator? How shocking! NOT

Does anyone really care what teenagers say about politics, they are all still wet behind the ears about politics (most of them) and just believe what they are told, they don't investigate the truth themselves, they get all their opinions from lying liberal teachers.

See, this is the stuff that takes MSM/dems right out of power! America doesn't want this crappolla and the more it's exposed the better.

Let the stupidassed idiots do these things because it will do nothing but destroy their hold on America.

For goodness sakes let the idiots who hate Bush ramble because there's NOTHING we could do more effectively to take them out of power!
