All kinds of rumors floating out there. Something about his own brother shooting him.
It's time to end this story NOW.

If he was killed during a fire fight by his own side dosent mean it would be criminal. Friendly fire deaths happen all the time in every war. Now if he was killed deliberately by another soldier it isnt friendly fire it is murder and should be investigated as a criminal case.

That's the ugly rumor. Someone is feeding this fire. Frankly, it's going to cause nothing but problems for all the guys in the unit. To suggest that this was anything more than an accident can only harm everyone involved.
In war, bad stuff happens.

And we thought that with Hackworth consorting with the devil that this kind of nightmare was finished.

I have to disagree, somewhat...if this was murder, it should be investigated.....like I said, the DOD has re-opened this for some reason...I'm sure they wanted this settled a long time ago..

this may have been a "jealousy" situationThat was my first thought when I heard of a criminal investigation. If there's such an animal out there, we'd better get to the bottom of it.

This is going to lead to places noone wants to go. Sad day for our country. No good American would want to go...but there are those on the left who will be quite glad. :-(
The end of neo-conservative denial, innocence and naivete for one.
You nailed it.

All the asinine rumors regarding what happened to Rgr. Tillman are awful.
So are those who are trying to suggest this case will cause much erosion to the current war effort....or that this case will take this Nation "down a road we don't want to go".
Such hyperbole BS! By many who don't have a clue what they are talking about.
A criminal probe coming from this (if it happens) will not be based out of some "premeditated killing of Rgr. Tillman".. Or any silly as$ rumors such as that....but out of complete and utterly reckless actions by a fellow Ranger (which is sadly the case).
Should this move to the criminal process? I don't believe so. But at the same time I haven't given it enough specific thought either (regarding this specific case).
However, without a doubt and completely being aware and understanding of not only the FOW but also Mr. Murphy.....the reality is Rgr. Tillman died giving 110% of himself while fellow Rangers acted with complete recklessness (which lead to his death).
To: Glenn
The Army in May of 2004 determined that Tillman, 27, was probably killed by gunfire from his own unit during the intense firefight. This is old news, unless Tillman was killed INTENTIONALLY it more MSM hype. Additional info......5.56 mm....7.62-mm, and is it in the back of the body or the front...this isn't rocket science folks.

And other rumors about silencing his dissent on Iraq.
Regardless, it's not good. But honour is the burden of the good guys, and if we must investigate our own, it's because we aren't barbaric thugs like our enemy.

The investigation will not hurt nears as much as the rumors that have been flying since this happened.

Casualties by "friendly fire" aren't at all unusual.
What is unusual is the unending persecution of those who made mistakes.
Who can say now what happened during a night of comabt, without having been there? We don't need more second-guessing because someone wants to find a villain in all this.
To: All
Note to all. This is the third title that CNN has used. I've changed it for the second time.

And other rumors about silencing his dissent on Iraq. Right. Let me guess where such rumors come from.....the same same liberal panty wastes that applauded his death?

I'm sure CNN is working hard at getting the headline sufficiently provocative and anti-military.
