Casualties by "friendly fire" aren't at all unusual. What is unusual is the unending persecution of those who made mistakes Who can say now what happened during a night of comabt, without having been there? We don't need more second-guessing because someone wants to find a villain in all this. If that is what happened, then I say forget it....I would like to know why this has been re-opened....new evidence relating to his death?.....I'm willing to bet the DOD never wanted this re-opened...something has happened.

I agree. I fail to see why the DOD would open this would without good cause.
If they do have new evidence, then this isn't "unending persecution".
