For All The Divas Of The Canteen
Taking A Cat Nap

After a fine meal of Herring and Cream
I stretch out luxuriantly, perchance to dream
On a sea of Sun warmed, elegant Brocade

My eyes grow blank and begin to close
Exhaling slowly, I begin to doze
When I hear the Rough and Tumble of my Brigade

Tiny paws scratch, flick and flutter
As Brothers and Sisters bounce and jostle each other
Across bare wood floor, carpeting and rugs

Their little voice growing louder
My precocious, boisterous clowder
Dart under my arm and over me like bugs

My eldest, Marcus looks for a snack
While Seth and Sarah attempt a Flanking Attack
And Jezebel curls up like a ball of silk

Soon my Brood will settle down
And be nothing but contented purrs all around
Even more so, when I teach them how to lap a bowl of milk!
