The removal of the Confederate flag from Amherst County's official seal has upset Southern heritage groups, who contend residents weren't told of the change. County officials acknowledge the image was quietly removed in August 2004 to avoid an uproar.

So did Alabama make the federal government, or did the Congress make Alabama?
I applaud you for being one of the few southron supporters around here who actually admit the southern actions were a rebellion, but I was wondering if you can give us some examples of the tyranny that the southern states were suffering from that caused the rebellion in the first place?
(BTW I hope you aren't one of those individuals who equates the Civil War=Slavery).
'Fraid I am. Absent slavery, and their perceived need to defend it, the southern states would not have rebelled.
It wasn't, it was about the right of states to remain sovereign of the Federal government.
And just what was the bone of contention that caused the southern states to cry out about a loss of sovereignty? Other than slavery I mean?
...Slaveless whites in such a confederacy would be socially degraded as well as politically disfranchised. In mid-September 1860, Alabama fire-eater William L. Yancey delivered a speech in Knoxville in which, according to Brownlow's account, he observed that one of the advantages of slavery was that it provided a labor force for "degrading work" and "menial service," whereas in the free states whites had to fulfill this role. For weeks thereafter, Brownlow reminded readers of Yancey's remarks, stressing that his disparaging comments about the dignity of manual labor were an affront to nine-tenths of his audience.
The movers and shakers of the South were too good for menial and "degrading work". What a contemptible society. Any poor southerner who fought for such a trashy system was a misused sucker and the best thing that could have happened for such confederate cannon fodder was their quick defeat at the hands of our US Army.
Sadly there's always been an element of southerners that will suffer any exploitation and overlook any injustice if they can be fooled into thinking it's for "The South".
The harm that's being done to the great civil rights party by neoconfederates is immeasurable. The democrat party was front and center in suppression of civil rights.
The neoconservatives' revisionism and smearing of the republican party with the sins of the democrats may permanently put the dims in power.
do you REALLY believe that the SLAVERS conspired to elect lincoln, the TYRANT??? not even the MOST lunatic of REVISIONISTS would suggest that, seriously, as it would get them laughed out of their LEFTIST, "poison ivy-league screwls".

So where did Alabama come from?
That is exactly what they did at the Charleston meeting prior to the election of 1860. Or are you under the impression that splitting the DemocRAT party into three parts would defeat Lincoln?
I realize the Slaver leadership was composed of fools, and idiots but even it was not so stupid as to not know this act would mean Lincoln's election.
How else could they manuever the rest of the South into supporting Insurrection?
