If the MSM or any of the pundit shows would do 2 stories back to back, the ports deal and Iran closing off the Straights of Hormuz, which also showed a map of the geography, it would become crystal clear to those who are scratching thier heads wondering how and why Bush is so adamant on seeing the deal go through.

Then again, that would be pro-Bush, therefore not shown.

The republicans in congress, who are supposed to be guarding his back

They're stabbing us in the back, too.  If we lose the next election cycle or two it won't be because of the dems, it will be 'The Fall Of The RINOs Era.'

Does the administration have an "information center" where they read all papers, books, magazines, blogs, internet news ect.? They need to correct MSM every single day. Would that be something Scotty does? Maybe he needs a staff? We would be a good staff.

Strange, but in all the years of poll taking, I (a conservative) have never been contacted. How many Freepers have been quizzed as to their opinions. It would be interesting to know.

There goes his dictatorship. We'll never get him installed as High Lord of the Neocons with those numbers.

I've not been polled...but alas, I have an unlisted number - or I'd rip them a new one, in a polite sort of way.

They clearly need help. I would like to see them hire some heavy hitters. I would actually like a real fight with the media.

Maybe a series of political ads. They are getting away with hammering Bush relentlessly and it is taking its toll.

"They are getting away with hammering Bush relentlessly and it is taking its toll."

Why isn't Bush' camp fighting back? If they are, it's ineffective.

I don't understand it. They just won't fight back and media feels emboldened.

That's because the Bush camp is so polite, rising above it, not getting in the throws of name calling and other tacky strategies. But we're in a world of tacky folks who simply like being force-fed...It drives me bananas...I'm very frustrated over this.

Our one chip is who will run for president next election. If we stay soft, we're gonna lose big time. And have to suffer another ill-gotten Democratic term.

Polls taken in the middle of the week generally oversample Democrats, it's even worse when the poll is polling "adults", as opposed to "registered" or "likely" voters.

Another reason alot of these polls are weighted toward Democrats is because of the nature of the questions asked. Only an idiot Republican would sit on the phone for 15 minutes answering questions skewed in favor of the Democrat party.

They are, and it is ineffective. Their PR team is probably the most tone deaf in recent memory.

I used to work for a polling firm so I know all about it. Our 1996 Presidential election poll had Clinton winning with 60% of the vote and it used a sample of 50% Democrats.

Needless to say, the results were off.

That was a crappy job and I'm glad I didn't have it much longer after that.

The worst polls are these in-house polls purely taken to generate headlines, like this dopey CNN poll, the FOX News poll announced earlier in the day and that ridiculous CBS poll a couple days ago.

Yep, between elections the media loves to churn out polls designed to make and influence the news, not report on it.

How do you get 12%? CBS was at 34, this is at 38. Fuzzy math?

You do realize that his poll numbers will have a direct effect on the mid terms elections in November, right?

Exactly. It boggles the mind that so many people fail to see that. If Bush's numbers don't approach the upper 40s in a couple of months, we'll start to see the GOPers distance themselves totally from Bush, and the Dems will continue to run ads mocking Bush and his ties to each GOP candidate throughout the nation.

Anyone that thinks that polls don't matter is delusional, or ignorant, IMHO. With all due respect, of course.

The 4 point increase from 34 to 38 is approximately a 12% increase. You take 4 (the numerator) and divide it into 34 (the denominator); the result is 11.76% (I rounded to 12%).
